If one looks at the history of Ireland & the History of the Jewish People, one would automatically assume that the Republic of Ireland would be one of the greatest fans and supporters of the State of Israel.

and supplant their language with English in an effort to wipe out their identity, until, finally, they rebelled and gained their political and cultural independence.

With all that history, one might assume they would identify with another people, the Jewish People, that have been subject to exclusion, persecution, forced assimilation at times, and finally an attempted genocide,...

but who finally fought and regained their independence, part of it from the same empire that Ireland rebelled against.

But, instead, Ireland has been more often hostile to Israel than sympathetic, more often supporting and giving sympathy to Israel’s enemies.

What could have made this absurd turn circumstance?

Two things.

First, the modern struggle in Northern Ireland, an emotional issue for all of Ireland, was turned into a false parallel by the IRA, Gerry Adams, and his allies, with the Palestinian efforts against Israel, ...

under the guidance of those who trained most of the modern terrorist movements at the Lumumba Institute in the USSR. Gerry Adams and others say themselves allied with fellow Russian trainees like Yasir Arafat and Mohammed Abbas. And Carlos, and the Sandinistas.

But I think there was something else that made the difference more than the politics. 1000 years of Catholic Antisemitism ingrained in Irish culture made the demonization of Jews, and the Jewish State more acceptable."
