“The egregious ploy to reject electors may enhance the political ambition of some, but dangerously threatens our Democratic Republic. 1/
The congressional power to reject electors is reserved for the most extreme and unusual circumstances. These are far from it. More Americans participated in this election than ever before, and they made their choice.
President Trump’s lawyers made their case before scores of
courts; in every instance, they failed. The Justice Department found no evidence of irregularity sufficient to overturn the election. The Presidential Voter Fraud Commission disbanded without finding such evidence.
My fellow Senator Ted Cruz and the co-signers of his statement argue that rejection of electors or an election audit directed by Congress would restore trust in the election. Nonsense.
This argument ignores the widely perceived reality that Congress is an overwhelmingly
partisan body; the American people wisely place greater trust in the federal courts where judges serve for life. Members of Congress who would substitute their own partisan judgement for that of the courts do not enhance public trust, they imperil it.
Were Congress to actually
reject state electors, partisans would inevitably demand the same any time their candidate had lost. Congress, not voters in the respective states, would choose our presidents.
Adding to this ill-conceived endeavor by some in Congress is the President’s call for his supporters
to come to the Capitol on the day when this matter is to be debated and decided. This has the predictable potential to lead to disruption, and worse.
I could never have imagined seeing these things in the greatest democracy in the world. Has ambition so eclipsed principle?"

In a move casting doubt on the legitimacy of a POTUS-elect who won the popular vote by a wide margin, 11 GOP senators explain it thusly:
1. There are allegations of fraud.
2. A sizable portion of R's believe them.
NOTE: Courts across the nation have rejected those allegations.
But, again, the statement says there are "allegations of fraud and irregularities in the 2020 election exceed any in our lifetimes."
And they are believed by the people, 67% of Republicans, whom *they themselves told, without evidence* to believe such allegations.
"whether or not our elected officials or journalists believe it, that deep distrust of our democratic processes will not magically disappear. It should concern us all."

"This past weekend was a nightmare, we simply ran out of beds throughout the metroplex. We filled every single ICU bed by moving patients from ..
hospital to hospital.
Sadly, we also were unable to help out the smaller hospitals who had patients on transport or a disposable vents not intended for the patient to remain on other than for short periods of time.
One ER RN had tried 14 hospitals and still could not get
her patient on a disposable vent out of her ER. My heart broke as she begged for some help.
The Trauma RAC has been repurposed as a placement crisis line to help place patients throughout the state. Their mission has become almost impossible.
NEW: MI GOP leaders issue statement on Trump meeting:
"We have not yet been made aware of any information that would change the outcome of the election in Michigan and as legislative leaders, we will follow the law and follow the normal process regarding Michigan’s electors,
just as we have said throughout this election."
“Michigan’s certification process should be a deliberate process free from threats and intimidation. Allegations of fraudulent behavior should be taken seriously, thoroughly investigated, and if proven, prosecuted to
the full extent of the law. And the candidates who win the most votes win elections and Michigan's electoral votes. These are simple truths that should provide confidence in our elections.”
Michigan's Senate Leader Mike Shirkey and Speaker Lee Chatfield are expected in Washington any minute after Trump summoned them to the White House.
The New York Times reported Trump has pressed his own advisers on using state legislatures to circumvent the popular vote.
But Michigan law is clear. According to the secretary of state: The state’s 16 representatives to the Electoral College must go to the candidate who won the popular vote.
“If I were their lawyer I would think twice about letting them put themselves in that kind of compromised
