Thread: The same people who often refer to Arab citizens of Israel as Palestinians, claim Israel isn’t vaccinating Palestinians. They are wrong.
Israel is vaccinating Arab citizens of Israel, which some refer to as Palestinian citizens and Palestinian Arab residents of Jerusalem
It’s true Israel isn’t vaccinating non-citizen residents of Gaza, which Israel left in 2005, and of the Palestinian Authority in the West Bank. 139 countries have recognized a Palestinian state, so that state has responsibility for vaccinating its citizens and deserves support.
The fact is that Palestinians, whether Arab citizens of Israel or non-citizens will do better under the health system of Israel and the Palestinian Authority areas than in many neighboring states. The international community should definitely help Gaza, and Israel can too.
In the end Israel will likely end up vaccinating far more Palestinians than other countries where Palestinians reside, such as Lebanon. And Israel is offering the vaccine to non-citizens unlike many countries.
Can Israel do better down the road to help Ramallah and Gaza. Sure. But in the end Israeli health insurance providers, the main providers of the vaccine, can’t operate there. So local authorities will.
Furthermore in Jerusalem the Palestinians of east Jerusalem have and will have vaccines but they also need to have community leadership to come and receive it, which many have not done. They have access to Israel health providers.
The idea that Israel has a responsibility to vaccinate Gaza, which it doesn’t administer or parts of the West Bank that many recognize as a Palestinian state under its own authority, is not logical. Must Cyprus vaccinate Turkish-occupied Cyprus? Is Turkey vaccinating Idlib?
We know that the same critics who excoriate Israel for not doing enough for Gaza, are the same ones silent on Turkey’s illegal occupation of Afrin. So definitely when they speak up about Ankara providing vaccines to those it ethnically cleansed from Afrin, better to listen.
Otherwise, much of this story about Israel not vaccinating various non-citizens is just a manufactured anti-Israel story. Israel didn’t provide them health care in 2019 and doesn’t today. Can Israel help like the international community? Yes. And it should encourage/facilitate
The best path for Israel is to facilitate and in some cases provide for Palestinians where it can, such as Area C, and provide advice as it has throughout the pandemic via the civil administration to partners in the West Bank. Some states that fund Gaza, like Qatar, can help.
Israel should VACCINATE its citizens and residents snd non-citizens as best it can, then it should ramp up FACILITATION for Palestinian Authority areas and COORDINATE to supply Gaza. Any talking points that don’t look at this complexity are hypocritical and wrong.

Thread: I would take more seriously the "Israel doesn't vaccinate people in areas it doesn't control that are run by hostile governing authorities recognized as a foreign state" more seriously...if the same people conjured this up about Donbas, Kashmir, N. Cyprus etc...
Israel hasn't 'excluded' anyone from a vaccine...in the opposite its massive vaccination program, from personal experience, is open to everyone who arrives...the idea that it should be bashed for not doing the same in Gaza is ridiculous.
And we know it is ridiculous and hypocritical misleading lies because the same voices don't make this argument for Turkey providing health care to Idlib...and they don't argue that Russia must vaccinate the "Donbas People's Republic"...in no other case does this claim arrive.
I saw a guy in Jerusalem, looked like a western tourist or activist, with a shirt that read "defund the media"...umm the media is already defunded buddy.
Interesting in western democracies some want to 'defund the media'....not defund state totalitarian regime media though...
You can guarantee the types of people who are critical of the "corporate media" in the West...where at least media is a bit free to do as it wants...rarely critique state-controlled media in Ankara-Tehran etc...I'd be fine with it if they held Fars news, Al-Jazeera, TRT to same
You literally have people who go on Press TV or AJE or TRT and blabber about the "western capitalist" media or whatever...and talk about "independent voices"...while being on a state or monarchist media network...it's nonsensical.
Lots of people celebrated quietly the new year, arguing somehow it will be different than last year. Ummm...can someone point to the explanatory plans of how exactly they foresee ending the rolling lockdowns and restrictions? Because so far I didn't see much.
Rate of vaccinations for instance in even the most advanced countries is quite low. For many countries it is near zero. So what's the plan exactly, for things like basic travel (without testing all the time before, during); or hotels, tourism, restaurants, businesses normal?
I think it is great how well Israel has done so far with the vaccine roll-out but the goal is to get this million through the second dose and then continue to the wider population; it’s a long way to go and best not to boast to early. The process is only beginning
I also think it’s bizarre the claim that Israel is “occupying” Gaza and must be responsible for vaccinations there, Israel left 14 years ago, it shows that people won’t ever let Israel stop “occupying” as a talking point. Israel could help of course and that would be good
Thread: Interesting to see the excuse factory already being out to work to make Zarif’s grotesque conspiracy theory about Israel palatable. Reasonable people explaining and excusing a conspiracy about Israel attacking the US to cause a war.
Iran’s Zarif plays on historic western antisemitism to push these gross views, arguing that the very militias that it empowers in Iraq and which openly carried out dozens of attacks over the last year are now “Israel fake casus belli”....
It’s one thing for Iran to complain about the US...or slam Israel, but to push a gross conspiracy about Israel attacking the US in Iraq to cause a war in Iran is disgusting and should be condemned but because Iran’s regime always gets a pass it won’t.
Turkey's goal in pushing Azerbaijan to war with Armenia was to empower Russia and bring its troops in...to partition Caucasus and prevent Armenia's drift toward the West; it wants to work with Russia everywhere. To partition with Iran, Russia and work against US.
Turkey's lobbyists in the West sing Ankara's tune of "Ankara is a bulwark against Russia," but Ankara is all smiles when meeting Moscow's leadership; while it bashes the West. It wants to supplant US role everywhere to leverage areas, extremists against US and West.
Ankara's sole policy since 2016 has been to work with Iran and Russia everywhere. Every invasion has increased the influence of Russia and Iran, this has always been Ankara's goal.
