Today, I objected to the seating of my colleagues from six states: AZ, GA, MI, NV, PA, and WI.
It would confound reason if the presidential results of these states were to face objection while the congressional results of the same process escaped public scrutiny.
I believe our body should vote on the certification of those members to ensure the integrity of the House of Representatives is guarded from all suspicion of illegitimacy.
While the Constitution and the 12th Amendment do not make Congress the judge of the states’ presidential electors, it does require us to be the arbiters of the elections to this body.
If the electors for the office of the president were not in question, neither would be the election certificates of my colleagues present here today.
The father of our country, George Washington, famously called the Constitution — which his wisdom helped craft and guide to fruition — “the guide which I never will abandon.”
We owe it the same fidelity in this case and all others.

"[O]nly the states have authority to appoint electors, in accordance with state law. Congress has only a narrow role in the presidential election process. Its job is to count the electors submitted by the states, not to determine which electors the states should have sent."
Some 81 colleges and universities in the United States have institutes with close ties to China’s communist government that attempt to stifle free speech and promote Chinese propaganda within American higher education.
Known as “Confucius Institutes,” these institutions receive funding and oversight primarily from the Hanban, located in Beijing and affiliated with the People’s Republic of China (PRC).
There are numerous examples of communist Chinese officials putting pressure on American ...
universities that host Confucius Institutes to avoid making statements or holding events on topics they deem politically sensitive. Even more, Chinese teachers at these institutes sign contracts w/ the Chinese government pledging to not damage the communist government’s interests
This evening, my colleagues and I filed a lawsuit to ensure the House remains the People’s House, not a body dictated by the whims of a few dozen members.

so-called “proxy” – to another member. We did not allow proxy voting while the nation was engulfed in the Civil War. We didn’t allow it while the Capitol building was on fire during the War of 1812. We didn’t allow it through World Wars and the Spanish Flu. We didn’t after 9/11.
THREAD: "If China retaliates against the United States at this time, it will also announce strategic control over medical products and ban exports to the United States...the US will be caught in the ocean of the new coronaviruses," Xinhua, a commie state-run media agency.
Let that sink in for a minute. A communist Chinese state-run news agency threatened to withhold medical supplies and life-saving drugs from Americans.
China is the largest exporter of medical devices to the U.S., and the second largest exporter of drugs and biologics.
Chinese pharmaceutical companies produce more than 90 percent of our supply of antibiotics, vitamin C, ibuprofen, and hydrocortisone. Though the United States also imports drugs from other countries, China is the world’s largest producer of active pharmaceutical ingredients.
Today, I am introducing legislation to posthumously award the Congressional Gold Medal to Dr. Li Wenliang.
Dr. Wenliang was the brave Wuhan doctor who first sounded the alarm about the spread of #coronavirus.
Dr. Wenliang did so in the face of the communist Chinese government that tried nearly everything to stop him. He was detained, questioned, and forced to sign a document confessing that he spread illegal rumors.
Despite being one of the first to have knowledge of the dangerous virus, Dr. Wenliang continued to treat patients in Wuhan. Tragically, he contracted the virus himself, ultimately succumbing to it shortly thereafter.
Tonight, I voted against Nancy Pelosi’s #Coronavirus bill.
I could not support the bill for several reasons.
First, the legislative process is corrupted. As of 9:51 pm, I was communicating with a group of U.S. Congressmen — none of whom knew which version of the legislation
to review — while the Chamber of Commerce issued statements of support. As often happens, K Street had the draft before most members of Congress.
Second, we were given a take-it-or-leave it bill with zero chance to amend it or debate it. None.
Despite being well intentioned, it puts onerous burdens and mandates on main street employers, while picking winners and losers by carving out big business! These burdens will lead to job losses and undermine the very thing we need for growth right now –- ...
