.@arawnsley, @justinbaragona, & I took a dive into Cleta Mitchell's (from The Call) largely out-of-sight legal work for Trump & his team on anti-democratic efforts. It goes back to pre-Thanksgiving, per our story, & she became the point person on Georgia:
thedailybeast.com/trumps-new-vol…
@arawnsley @justinbaragona Cleta Mitchell is no stranger to Trumpworld. She represented Trump in a 2011 matter involving the FEC, according to official documents and contemporaneous accounts: thedailybeast.com/trumps-new-vol…
Cleta Mitchell’s law firm released a statement today implying shock and ignorance of the extent of her work with Trump and his crew on trying to cancel democracy, but she said, for instance, in a little-heard podcast that she was a “volunteer” for the team thedailybeast.com/trumps-new-vol…
But largely, her legal work here was done under the radar, and it came as a surprise Sunday to those who’ve worked with her, some others in Trumpworld, and to others who’ve follows this legal mess and scandal closely.
And, as others have pointed out, Cleta Mitchell is not a nobody. She is a star in conservative legal circles and considered a heavy weight on, for instance, issues of campaign finance reform on the right. I’ve seen her in person in years past debating top liberals on the issue...
…and, irrespective from my own views on hers, from a debating chops standpoint, absolutely mopped the floor with them. (This debate included Harold Ickes in the mid-Obama era, iirc.)

Now, she’s all in for MAGA, & Trump’s flailing attempt to cancel democracy so he can feel good
On the Cleta Mitchell - Donald Trump professional and personal relationship, dating back years: thedailybeast.com/trumps-new-vol… Image
Also, per @justinbaragona, Cleta Mitchell appeared on Fox on evening of Nov. 7. At the end of that appearance, which was with anchor Jon Scott during the 7 pm ET hour, he calls her an "election law expert working on behalf of the Trump campaign."

The chances of this having profound, reverberating consequences on things like voting rights, long after this specific clownshow concludes this month, is depressingly quite high
And they simply do not care about the damage they’re inflicting, or they see it as part of a larger ideological project
or doing it for what they hope to be selfish political gain, can’t forget that one

The millennial-trashing which seems to have kinda sorta subsided in recent years as millennials got old as hell was always dumb and insufferable for a multitude of reasons; for one, it consisted of a bunch of elderly morons who gave us the Trump & Clinton presidencies yelling...
...at a bunch of recession-era 20-somethings, screeching at us to Get A Job when a) they were the “Woodstock generation” and b) many many millennials were off fighting bullshit wars that their boomer asses, including of course Bush (who I forgot to add to the prior tweet)started
But also, at a more basic general level, what was so patently dumb about it at the time was how much of it was making fun of “hipster” archetypes for still “figuring things out” in their 20s which is just literally called being young in any generation.

I am already preemptively getting mad at two dumb media and online trends I am assuming are coming soon, which is whenever Biden or his WH lie or say something in an annoyed manner to a reporter there is going to be talk of Biden using “Trumpian” tactics even tho...
...lying and being a dick to reporters is just called being the president, there are just matters of degrees
The other thing I’m predicting is the coming onslaught of as the death tolls continue, boring partisans will keep “asking” why the media isn’t blaming President Biden in like February and March as hard as they blamed President Trump, bias much????

Fav @HawleyMO memory is when he got into a twitter fight with @ENBrown earlier this year, and just.... disappeared when it was clear he was wrong, and then she wrote a whole article that showed how unequivocally full of it he was/is
The only thing people like Hawley care about when they venture online is trying to own others with Logic, and he can’t even get that right. Pathetic
This is how much of a liar he is, and you should keep that in mind when he tries to brand himself a genuine “populist”

Since 2017, Trump has on again off again talked about wanting Mike Flynn back in his admin and/or advising him, despite the cloud of scandal around the ex- national security adviser. Come the very end of the trump era, the president got what he wanted in the dumbest way possible
Also, for some Trumpworld connective tissue: Mike Flynn is now been in direct contact on “election fraud” issues with MyPillow ceo Mike Lindell, who is a major funder of Lin Wood and Sidney Powell’s legal work, the latter of whom was also at the Trump meeting with Flynn
If you had told me a year ago that in the wake of the 2020 race, Trump would bring back Gen. Flynn to consult & egg on & work w/ QAnon peddling lawyers to try to steal the election & cancel democracy, & that the MyPillow creator would also be a player in the saga I woulda said...

hm wonder how we got to a point where we’d be losing that many a day, hopefully Mr. Trump can get to the bottom of this
There’s plenty of blame to go around for the current situation and the whole crisis, and FDA gets its fair share but other countries that also haven’t had a vaccine have managed to not get so thunderously corpse-ridden as we have, & that reality starts and ends with the president
So, if you want to be mad at someone, maybe make it the guy who instead of using his considerable powers in his closing weeks in office to make life better for people is instead going on a killing spree of federal inmates & also trying to cancel democracy on the way out the door
