🔸Annual mean land surface air temp averaged over India in 2020 was 0.29ºC above (1981-2010 period) average.
🔹Annual rainfall over India as a whole in 2020 was 109% of its Long Period Average for 1961-2010.
🔸With a +0.29ºC anomaly 2020 was India's 8th warmest year on record since 1901
🔹2016 (+0.71ºC) has been warmest on record
🔸2011-2020 was India's warmest decade on record with a +0.34ºC anomaly
🔹Global mean surface temp anomaly during 2020 (Jan to Oct as per WMO) is +1.2ºC
Rainfall over India as a whole during SW monsoon season (June-September) was above normal - 109 % of Long Period Average
Region-wise rainfall received against LPA:
🔸Central - 115%
🔹South Peninsular - 129%
🔸East & Northeast - 106%
🔹Northwest - 84%
2020 NE Monsoon season(Oct-Dec) rainfall over India as a whole was normal-101% of LPA
Except Kerala, 4 other subdivisions of core region of south peninsula viz. Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema, Tamil Nadu & Puducherry, South Interior Karnataka received excess/normal rainfall
During 2020, 5 cyclonic storms formed over north Indian Ocean
