In the previous hearing, Sr Adv Kapil Sibal on instructions had submitted that the statement of not taking any coercive steps against any employee of the Republic TV will continue till January 6, 2021.

@KapilSibal

@republic
On such statement, the Bench of Justices SS Shinde and MS Karnik had adjourned the hearing on the matter to today.
Hearing begins.

Adv. Niranjan Mundargi appearing for ARG Outlier led by Sr. Adv. Ashok Mundargi requests the court for time due to some medical emergency in his family.

Sr Adv Kapil Sibal appearing for the state agrees for adjournment.
“I cannot possibly oppose this Milords."
Court: Now there is a prayer of adjournment, we heard in the morning Mr. Sibal saying he cannot extend the statement.

@KapilSibal : Milords we have found some serious evidence in our investigation, so we cannot extend the statement. Milords can call for a status report.
@KapilSibal : We have found evidence on record through investigation with BARC. Milords may record my statement that I do not wish to continue my statement. But because of this extreme emergency I have agreed.

@NiranjanMundar1 : Milords may keep it after 10 days.
@KapilSibal : Why seek for 10 days now? You can come on Friday and then seek for more time.

Court: Ok, so we keep it on January 15.

@KapilSibal : Let me make it clear milords, I will argue this matter on Friday. I will not extend this beyond that date.
Court: So you don’t mind extending it till Jan 15?

@KapilSibal : NO I don’t. But not thereafter.
Milords may record my objection to the extension today. I am agreeing only because of this emergency.
Court: OK we have recorded that you did not have instructions to continue, but only because of the emergency you have agreed.

Court: Mr. Kamath (Sr Adv Devdutt Kamath appearing for Commissioner of Mumbai Police) you also extend your statement.
(The statement is pertaining to the plea filed by Hansa Research)

Kamath: Milords my statements will also continue till January 15. I will argue on that date to relieve myself from that statement.
Court asks Sibal how long he will take to make his submissions.

@KapilSibal : Milords I will place the status report. We have evidence now through the ex-CEO of BARC, whose bail application was rejected.

So the case will be clear with that report only.
Hearing ends.

Matter will be listed for hearing on January 15, 2021.
