Dear Scholarship Applicants,

Follow these four (4) cardinal tips

1) QUALITY OF APPLICATION AND CREDENTIALS.

There are many checklists that Scholarship bodies use to access the quality of your application, be sure to put up a really competitive package.
No one will give you money for a “normal application”. Tell a good story with your credentials, experiences and passion. Your CGPA, Curriculum Vitae, Personal statements, Recommendations, Test scores, Publication (if any), voluntary services rendered, achievements, memberships.
The take home point is – SELL YOURSELF.

Note: Scholarship bodies evaluate the total package not just a single part (make all parts count).

2) NUMBER OF APPLICATIONS.

How many applications should you turn in? - 1, 5, 10 or 50.
The simple answer is – AS MUCH AS YOUR TREASURE, TIME AND TALENT can afford. Don’t make just one application and sit back; while this may work for others, it may not work for you. I advise people to make as many applications until they get a YES.
It is even advisable to keep applying after the first YES if you want options. Scholarship packages are more robust than each other. Some may pay as high as $5,000 monthly as stipend while others may pay less than a few hundred dollars. The choice is yours.
3) SWEEP AND LADDER APPROACH.

This is perhaps the smartest approach to scholarship application. Make a list of Schools you want to apply to (Case study – United States of America). Rank schools based on their research outputs , acceptance rates, graduation rates,
available funds, referrals and other metrics. If you want to turn in a total of 10 applications – I will advise you to do this, it is called the 4-4-2 formation;

2 to Highly ranked schools.
4 to Middle ranked schools.
4 to Lower tier schools.
You will be surprised that some low tier schools have better research than the highly ranked schools. In addition, you can switch schools and programs.

4) EARLY APPLICATIONS

Those who wait to repent at 12:00 die at 11:45 – Anonymous.
Some scholarships are offered on a rolling basis, be wise enough to turn in your applications including all requirements at least ONE MONTH to the stated deadline. This will help you organize and make a better and competitive application.
It gives you room to have your packages reviewed by mentors and friends. Don’t wait till a week to deadline, it may not fly. Be intentional.

May the odds be in your favour.
2021 MUST OBEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

END!!!

The only reason why I will support continuity is if the incumbent has done well beyond doubts. You shouldn’t campaign so much if your works are visible, just do little patches here and there and boom 💥 the odds will be in your favor. Case study : Mandela, Adesina et al.
Otherwise, let us test the strength and capacity of others. There’s no monopoly of power and patriotism in this thing called service. Let others give their best. The more we recycle this process, the better and more competitive our political system will be.
Governance will be issue based rather than party oriented. This will put more power in the hands of the people. Clearly, the debate between @TayoJegedeSAN and @RotimiAkeredolu mirrors good intentions. The latter has done his part, if well done it shouldn’t be difficult to be ...
