On @councilofdc of NG deployment: @MayorBowser says she requested NG 2 or 3 days ago. Approved by SECARM. Additionally, U.S. Capitol Police requested additional guard support today.
SECARM: Working through additional request - a lot of questions were asked ...
SECARM: "for us to truly understand the specifics behind the request and how we would support the operations, a lot of questions were asked - little bit of confusion - but as we worked through it, [we ultimately made the] determination about a half hour later to mobilize the ..."
SECARM cont'd "...entire D.C. National Guard. So this has been incredibly fluid. But I have to go through the Secretary of Defense ultimately to get the final approval to mobilize personnel as well as to conduct operations in cooperation, in coordination with local authorities"

The grandfather of Davon McNeal, the 11yo boy shot & killed in SE DC last night, cried, pleading for parents to step-up. Says his daughter, a Violence Interrupter who works with @trayonwhite held a July 4th event to watch the fireworks when MPD says a group started shooting.
Davon’s other grandfather tells me the family moved out of the neighborhood bc of the violence. They still have family here & mom threw a July 4th ‘stop the violence’ type cookout. John Ayala says 11yo Davon was only dropping by to pick up a charger & ear buds when shots rang out
Neighbors & @DCPoliceUnion confirm this is the same area where on June 29th, two people were seen in an Audi opening their doors & opening fire through the Cedar St. SE cul-de-sac & it looks like through the alley as well.
@DCPoliceDept posted to YouTube.

An @ACPSk12 Spokesperson tells @fox5dc a 2nd letter was expected to go home w/students Friday in regards to the 18yo T.C. Williams HS student arrested for the double murder of two former Northwest HS students: 19yo Ayanna Griffin & 21yo "Joel" Bianda @fox5dc ImageImage
The student arrested at the HS yesterday is 18yo Mohamed Aly, who appears to have been a football player at T.C. Williams.

I spoke to Ayanna Griffin’s father at the Fairfax Blvd @jimmyjohns where his daughter worked. He spent the day collecting her items, including a pair of shoes left at JJ. Said it was emotional to see a ‘Gravity Falls’ drawing Ayanna left behind bc they watched the show together. ImageImageImage
