HRCP is appalled at PM Imran Khan's statement on being 'blackmailed' by the #Hazara mourners in Quetta, who have declared that they will bury their dead - victims of senseless violence - only after the PM visits them and ensures the future safety of their community. 1/3
The Hazara have long been relegated to the margins and persecuted to the point of genocide; to dismiss them as 'blackmailers' is disgraceful. The PM has a duty of care to the community and must respect their demand. 2/3 #HazaraKoJeenayDo
The state should take immediate steps to secure their lives and liberty. 3/3

HRCP is appalled to learn of the government’s decision to abolish the two percent public and private company employment quota for persons living with disabilities (#PLWDs). hrcp-web.org/hrcpweb/abolit… 1/3
Deeply ironic that such a decision was made barely 4 months after the NA passed the ICT Rights of Persons with Disabilities Bill. More ironic still that this decision has been made even as the federal govt claims to protect people’s #RightToWork in midst of #Covid19 crisis 2/3
HRCP would like to remind the government that Pakistan is a state party to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and is therefore bound to comply with all its provisions on work and employment for PLWDs. 3/3
Thread #ReleaseMazoorPashteen HRCP is gravely concerned at the arrest of #ManzoorPashteen, a key leader of the #PTM, on charges of sedition, among others. We demand that he be released immediately. 1/4
#ManzoorPashteen has held consistently that the state is responsible for protecting the fundamental rights guaranteed to all citizens under the Constitution. 2/4
Among other things, #ManzoorPashteen has advocated for the removal of landmines in former FATA, the recovery of forcibly disappeared persons, and for effective civilian control of former FATA, following the passage of the Twenty-Fifth Amendment Act 2018. 3/4
