Mt Harmukh ,16,870 ft high is the 4th highest peak in Kashmir,in Ganderbal.It is located between Nallah Sindh in South to Kishanganga in North,rising above Gangabal lake which is fed by the surrounding snow clad mountains.It is a sacred mountain 4 Hindus 
And is known as "Kailash of Kashmir."& is considered to b the abode of Lord Shiva .An annual pilgrimage takes place every year on the eve of Ganga Ashtami.The yatris begin the Yatra 4m Naranag.Preferred route of ascent is from northwest side of Arin,Kudara Bandipura
Legend has it that a Hermit tried to reach the summit to see Shiva face 2 face & he tried for 12 yes but failed.1day he saw a gujjar cmng down & the Hermit inquired 4m him wat he saw thre.Gujjar said he saw a couple milking a cow & drinking milk 4m a human skull.They offered milk
To him but he refused,then they rubbed some milk on his forehead.Hearing this the hermit licked his forehead & it is said that he attained Nirvana & disappeared leaving the gujjar surprised
