Exclusive: A £25,000-a-year UK private concierge service is flying its members to the UAE and India to receive vaccinations telegraph.co.uk/luxury/society…
Around 40% of Knightsbridge Circle's members are UK based
“It’s very exciting to say that we can offer the vaccine now. We’ve been proactive in offering it to all of our existing members," says founder Stuart McNeil
“It’s like we’re the pioneers of this new luxury travel vaccine programme. You go for a few weeks to a villa in the sunshine, get your jabs and your certificate and you’re ready to go. Lots of our clients have business meetings in the UAE,” he adds
The club has been vaccinating its members for a couple of weeks in the UAE, using Pfizer and Sinopharm, which require a 21-day gap between shots.
From today, it start administering the AstraZeneca vaccine in India.
Potential clinics are also being considered in Marrakech
McNeil approximates a cost of around £40,000 for a month-long trip to Dubai with first class Emirates flights, meet and greet, accommodation in a sea view Jumeirah Beach apartment, vaccination and membership for two
Knightsbridge Circle has not vaccinated anybody under 65.
“We still have a moral responsibility to make sure that people that really need it get it, and that’s what we’ve been focusing on. It’s not just been our members, but their parents and their grandparents as well"
When it comes to the much debated ethics of private vaccination, McNeil says, “I feel that everybody who has access to private [healthcare should be able to be vaccinated] - as long as we offer it to the right people"
All of this is happening while private medics in the UK await the government’s go ahead to begin administering the vaccine.
“I’m really keeping my fingers crossed that Boris allows us to do this. Being realistic, I’m saying to our members that they might be waiting a while"
“It’s a shame because a friend of mine who works for the NHS tells me that a lot of people aren’t turning up. If somebody doesn’t show up, there should be a private list of people to say, ‘can you get here in one hour?’ Because people are desperate to have it,” he adds
Do you think the Covid-19 vaccine should be administered privately? 💉
