The more details that come out about the #CapitolRiots the more the news is sheepishly leaking just how racially tinged the whole matter was and most remarkable with a smattering of dedicated accomplices of color in a sea of angry white males.
Like the Black officer being chased..."this is OUR America" they chanted at him....
Or "we defended you during Black Lives Matter, why don't you have our backs"
Or the multiple Black Capitol Hill police who were called n...... or told that racism doesn't exist or that this wasn't their country..
It makes me suspect that this event has not been read by the mainstream as an attack on Black and Brown (African descendant, Latin of color, Middle Eastern and South and Southeast Asian, and Native and Pacific Islander folk) but especially Black ppl for failing to submit.
I mean I said this during Obama's term
...the uptick in brutality was a proxy assassination. They could not get to him, so they were going to get to us. We were going to be terrorized out of citizenship.
And the rise in voter suppression and yanking away rights in Michigan and poisoning kids of all backgrounds in Flint and neighboring communities and empowering mass incarceration and food deserts..weakening the fight against white domestic terrorism while "Black Identity"
The goal here was to assassinate non white America.
No more savvy Asians in tech they rationalized, no more Mexican and Central American kids, no more Muslims in medical school, lets get more Norwegians they said...
How do we recover from this as a society with so many people who think they are losing their country to their neighbors?
DC is where I was born. I'm quickly losing it to domestic terrorism and gentrification
And parts of both parties feel that whiteness is the cure and to achieve it cruelty is the point...
You will never have unity with that mindset. We are not here to be grateful for that.
I'm exhausted here....everyday I know I'm being asked to submit. To accept voter suppression, to accept censorship of our liberation literature and policing of our liberation spirituality....asked to accept "Western supremacy" and Megyn Kelly's white god.
Millions have been made selling the idea of using isms to divide. ...we should be frustrated....we would have to work 1000 lifetimes to get the one check that Tucker Carlson and Rush get for calling us n...... by proxy.
We have to make such characters a worthless commodity...
But more importantly defend our own worth in the age of Steve Bannon and Stephen Miller. We have to defend our joy, our bonds of love, our systems of survival, and roots we put down.
I'm not satisfied. I'm stressed, but Resistance is required.
Thats all I have to say.

Hi Twitter I can't sleep again. I need to ramble and rumble myself into passive aggressively sleeping.
The past 12 years haven't been easy for many but for those of us who are Jews of African descent in America it has been a trial by ordeal.
When Obama was president I remember when 1 of my students expressed a sense of fear of him. Their parents compared him to Hitler, wary of his passionate speeches &ability to arouse the masses. I immediately balked but knew where there was this sentiment there were others.
I lost a friend in Eva when she called him a Muslim born in Kenya. She also splashed a kid in the face with water...a lot...and I was like that's not cool but I also realized that would be my ass if I did that.
Problematic yes, but I grew up watching him....and only a year older than me...

Damn. Somebody check on Lisa....
If you're wondering why I care...Dustin Diamond played a sitcom nerd. I was a real life nerd. Outsider. Sitcom nerds meant at least on tv we would survive. Kids in my day needed that.
And no I was not cool with the heckling and ear biting and the gross video...but damn do things like this make you feel old...and vulnerable and mortal and small.
There were over 493 lynchings in Jason's home state of Texas. To say that people facing "violent mobs" is the most un-American thing ever....is to erase part of our origin story and by erasure deny and by denial bear false witness. Nobody in these images ever faced justice.
These mobs&organizations like the KKK &many others often aided&abetted by some of the law of the time represented millions of domestic terrorists who fought to pass on a generational fear of voting, owning a business, being educated or loving a human of another color.
These savages laughed while a naked man was burned alive as he swung from a tree. Where are their souls, Jason? Better yet where are the souls of their descendants as we speak? Where is their submission to a G-d who commanded not to murder?
Trumpist Republicans invested in last night's programming, we need to have a talk, a talk with a Black Gay Jewish guy of Southern heritage...I know that's a lot but I really need to get some stuff out.
The good thing about this current era is that I, a liberal leaning Black progressive with a moderate red button have gotten to know the softer side of those Republicans who don't dig your boo....like @TheRickWilson@JoeNBC@MichaelSteele@ProjectLincoln@SteveSchmidtSES etc
I used to think that Republicans didn't care at all about racism or lgbt rights etc.&the Trumpist mentality affirmed that. I used to think of this in Crusader terms w/o any hint of civility. TLP folks changed that. I'll never be a Republican but at least I know sheep vs goats.
#watchwithTwitty#UnitedShades New Orleans was the largest market for enslaved Africans and African Americans from 1830-1865. Every few minutes for 30 years multiple Black people on average were sold.
#watchwithTwitty New Orleans was the tail end of the Domestic slave trade...the largest forced movement of humans in American history. #UnitedShades
So we are about 25 minutes out from the #UnitedShades episode on slavery and reparations. I just wanted to put out a thread with some base concepts and facts so we can have a richer conversation. I want to thank @wkamaubell for this episode and conversation.
