Here is Wayne LaPierre's letter to the NRA board explaining the bankruptcy filing and restructuring plan. It is similar to the public letter but adds a few new details. scribd.com/document/49089…
The letter insists the bankruptcy will have no real effect on the organization. But it also insists it will help the organization streamline operations. LaPierre starts off by saying the group is filing for bankruptcy but later calls it a "so-called 'bankruptcy'" which is odd.
The letter to the board also suggests the NRA may not move their offices to Texas and might even move them to some other state. The only thing that seems to definitely be moving is where they're technically incorporated as a non-profit.
The NRA's headquarters aren't in New York as things stand now anyway. They're in Virginia, just outside of DC.
Also, LaPierre's letter to the NRA board about the bankruptcy and restructuring starts off with "I'm pleased to announce" which kind of implies this may all be news to them?
The bankruptcy filing seems to answer this question. Essentially, the board voted on January 7th to give LaPierre control over whether to "reorganize or restructure the affairs of" the NRA. They also created a 3-member committee to direct legal strategy. courtlistener.com/recap/gov.usco…
I have a feeling this Sea Girt LLC entity the NRA formed in November 2020 and is using as an affiliate in order to file bankruptcy in Texas will be getting a lot of scrutiny in the coming weeks and months. This screenshot is from the NRA filing.

NEW: NRA Flees New York for Texas, Declares Bankruptcy But Promises to Continue Operation freebeacon.com/policy/nra-fle…
The National Rifle Association is going to relocate its charter from New York to Texas after 150 years. Wayne LaPierre is staying CEO but they're hiring a former 3M general counsel to run restructuring. freebeacon.com/policy/nra-fle…
The New York lawsuit seeking to dissolve the NRA isn't going away and Wayne LaPierre is staying on. So, ultimately, the fundamentals don't seem to have changed much with this announcement. freebeacon.com/policy/nra-fle…

Several interesting developments in this piece. Mailchip has kicked a Virginia gun rights group off its service but won't say why. The group is holding its lobby day on the 18th in Richmond but it will be a driving protest due to Covid restrictions. freebeacon.com/latest-news/ma…
"In this case, our automated abuse-prevention system, Omnivore, detected serious risks associated with the account," the email from Mailchip to the gun rights group said. "That said, this risk is too great for us to continue to support the account."

No further detail. Image
A review of the email alerts sent by the group don't show any discussions of election conspiracies, the Capitol riot, violence of any kind, or the Biden Inauguration. Instead, they were mostly about the group's modified lobby day and other gun rights initiatives in Virginia.

If you want to know exactly what the Capitol Police were up against and exactly how outnumbered they were, you should watch this clip from a video uploaded by one of the rioters.
Here is the moment the rioters broke through the thin police line at the front of the Capitol.

"I hope you all fucking die!"

"You better run, cops!"

"You better fucking run!"
This breakthrough happened about 1 minute before one of the rioters threw a fire extinguisher at police officers, hitting one officer without a helmet in the head. Here is a thread that incident:

Here's the video of one of the suspects CPD just released. You can see the suspect throw a fire extinguisher at a group of police officers. You can see it hit one of the officers who did not have a helmet on in the head. The officer is clearly staggered by the hit. More to come.
The guy who threw the fire extinguisher threw AT LEAST three different projectiles at these police officers. From what I've seen he first shows up at the 17:27 mark of this raw footage posted by one of the rioters:
The video shows the man picking up the fire extinguisher off the ground, finding a better vantage point, and then throwing it at the group of officers. This happened about 1 minute after the rioters broke through a thin line of police. I added a circle around him.

If you're a gun rights advocate who is pushing loony conspiracy theories about the election, cheering on rioting at the Capitol, or minimizing the murder of a Capitol Police officer; you're doing more damage to the gun rights movement than anyone on the left could ever hope to.
Republicans losing the Georgia run-offs, and therefore the Senate, because people were convinced not to vote by hair-brained election conspiracies means gun control is now more likely.
Using those election conspiracies as inspiration to ransack Congress, plant bombs, murder a cop, and make every elected representative flee the Captiol means gun control is now more likely.

From a senior GOP senate aide: “The next time that Cruz or Hawley play faux tough guys, remember that they were too chickenshit to say that two plus two equals four and someone died because of their cowardice.”
An aide in another GOP office expressed frustration at Hawley and Cruz's "constant willingness to throw their colleagues under the bus, sacrificing the party and conservative principles for their ambition."
So, yea, it appears there are many in the Senate GOP who are very unhappy with Hawley and Cruz after yesterday's riot in the Capitol Building.
