Just went through a metal detector to enter the area surrounding the Capitol.

The checkpoint was manned by Secret Service, not NG

Trump Hotel appears to be open for business (you just have to go through a metal detector and have any large bags sniffed by dogs first)!

Bus loads presumably containing more troops arrive in front of the Capitol

There’s basically an unbroken line of NG’s surround the entire perimeter of the Capitol grounds

Here’s a look at the vehicle checkpoints that are set up on the perimeter of the “Green Zone”

Note the last slide listing restricted items including “selfie sticks”

New paint job on the letters reading “BLACK LIVES MATTER” at 16 and I street AKA BLM Plaza.

Other than that, things are pretty quiet around here

Access to the south side of the Plaza at H st, which is normally open to pedestrian and car traffic, is now closed entirely

And just when I thought I’d seen everything, there’s a TETHERED DRONE flying outside the White House.

Secret Service tells me it has been up there all day 🧐

Businesses all over downtown are boarded up although I don’t know who would be stupid enough to try to smash storefronts with 30k National Guard in town?
