2/ Non-physician healthcare workers are a diverse group that includes nurses, cafeteria workers & janitorial staff. They're disproportionately female and people of color. And yet, despite being “first in line,” they’re not all getting vaccinated.

3/ Whites are being vaccinated at 2-3x higher the rate of Blacks in this country. nbcnews.com/health/health-…

4/ Prioritizing "frontline essential workers" or "critical infrastructure workers" is another way of getting at equity in later phases of vaccine distribution. ~2/3 are women & >40% are people of color.

5/ But "lines" to ensure equity already aren't working. And any scheme that requires providing documentation to demonstrate eligibility is certain to create new barriers to access (take, for example, the impact of voter ID laws).
