Whoever wrote this White House document didn’t really grasp the sense of Douglass’s “What to the Slave is the Fourth of July?” speech. One clue they missed: the word “your.” whitehouse.gov/wp-content/upl…
Here’s another passage from that same speech of Douglass’s.
And another — remember this was a 4th of July speech in upstate NY in 1852.
Douglass biographer and eminent historian confirms
A new arrest today — a woman with a bullhorn at the Capitol turns out to be a business owner in Beverly Hills, CA who confirmed her attendance by tweet, posted video of herself, and gave a 2h interview about her participation to the Beverly Hills Courier. justice.gov/opa/page/file/…
Two other residents of Beverly Hills (according to CBS LA) were also arrested today for unlawful entry into the Capitol; the couple, delightfully named GOLD and STRAND, gave an interview and an photograph to the Washington Post. justice.gov/opa/page/file/…
Correx: This couple was actually arrested on Sunday; the charging papers were just posted.
The investigation includes one thing I hadn’t seen before — footage of the QAnon-shirted rioter Doug Jensen instructing the Capitol Police who stood in his way to “go arrest the Vice President.”
You shot your shot and missed, My Pillow guy. It’s over. Go home.
“Mr. President, the pillow maker man is here with a document about replacing the national security advisor and the CIA Director and also imposing martial law.”
The insurrectionist who broke a window at the Capitol allowing a large group to enter was seen at another Trump rally in Proud Boys regalia, the FBI says. Trump famously told the Proud Boys to "stand back and stand by" at a 2020 presidential debate. justice.gov/opa/page/file/…
The FBI has a witness in this case who says the defendant, who goes by "spaz," and others declared an intention to kill VP pence and planned another armed attack on the inauguration. justice.gov/opa/page/file/…
This witness also says members of the group said they intended to kill Speaker Pelosi. (Somehow my eye went right past that.)
