So @tedwheeler is now on a personal crusade against an indigenous activist in our community @cozca503. This must be stopped. He stated through his enormous platform, “I would love to see that individual prosecuted as a repeat offender.”
He is the police commissioner.
To be clear, @cozca503 is a gem for our community. Passionate? Yes. Also, shows up. And showing up to protests under @tedwheeler’s reign means getting arrested. Now, because his pandemic dates are being interrupted by people he has gassed, he wants us all to pay.
And this is bigger than @cozca503. Most people arrested at protests charges don’t stick. Not because there is some flaw but because the charges are baseless, excessive, unconstitutional, or just minor. So applying repeat offenders status just makes committed protesters criminals.
And to pretend to be lenient by saying he isn’t pressing charges for an incidental swat as if he is just the bigger man, even saying it’s part of the job - only to follow that up by publicly calling on police to be the bad guy and arrest is exactly who Wheeler is.
He is fake, manipulative, vengeful, inconsiderate, and all around just selfish.
Also, this goes without saying but this is why we get death threats. Because our mayor calls us the enemy. It’s dangerous enough being BIPOC, the mayor publicly targeting us makes it so much worse.
When we go death threats he lied to media and said he called us.

There is a lot of discussions nationally and locally about the tactics and strategy of Portland protesters. As someone who has led protests in the streets of Portland and also attended many in this current movement, I have some thoughts I want to share. (thread)
1. Vandalism and violence are different things. This should go without saying but the vast majority of Portlanders and protesters, including myself, do not engage in any political violence or vandalism even at the events that end in destruction.
2. Many of these events are escalated drastically by police and entire crowds are punished for the actions of individuals. We do not police any other crimes in this way. Also, vandalism and violence are already illegal and carry penalties.
I’m sorry if this offended you but I’m dead serious. Idk if it’s a band or a person. I don’t know anything. How would I? Where does one learn all this? I asked my groomsmen they don’t know either.
So this made me think, my dad is a musician and loves music and always is playing music. It just know hit me that I can’t think of a single white artist he ever played. It was all like the temptations, and four tops, or Motown stuff, Sam Cooke.
Some public accountability over an argument that probably doesn’t matter but should exist publicly. To understand this feud you need to know a few things. This is my memory which isn’t perfect but is the context of what happened with me and @pinwheelempire (thread)
1. I was blocked by @pinwheelempire around 3 years ago. Something that actually really hurt as a life long Blazers fan. I thought it was because I tweeted stupid stuff about Stotts as a passionate fan during that playoffs that I don’t currently believe.
2. At some point I asked why and was informed by multiple people that the account was ran by a cop and that many media members disliked him. This was told to me many times by many people. I then believed that my race, and my public protesting of police was why I was blocked.
We went to the beach for the weekend and when I was checking in the hotel we couldn’t find the room so we parked in the parking lot and a man was dragging and unconscious woman out of his car. When we pulled up he pushed her back in, ran to driver seat and closed doors.
I had no idea what to do because I don’t call the cops and also I didn’t know if she was in dire need so maybe was no time. Also my kids were in my car. So I go find out room and get my wife and kids in there. Then I knocked on his window and he wouldn’t answer.
Never in my life was I so happy to be armed. He would not open the door and I know he could hear me. I stood there trying to get him out but he locked up. My wife told me to come back. I told the front desk. Idk what happened but I also don’t know what I was supposed to do?!?
The first time I ever worked with @MacSmiff in 2015~ the mayor invited us to come negotiate. We said there is nothing to negotiate but Teressa told us to go take the meeting. When we got out Mac turned to me and said “I didn’t know you well before this, but now... you my nigga.”
And I was low key so damn proud cuz I looked up to him hard. Then in 2019 we were in the VIP section at the @wynne concert and Mac introduced me to his wife and said “ya that’s Greg you know the famous one.” And I was tripping out cuz in my mind he was an icon lol.
And when the uprising started we got together to just talk and have stayed in touch all these years and I can tell you he is one of the realest people ever. Every time we have ever talked it was like “okay so what can we get done”. And we always do it.
I’m going to need the white left to take several seats on claiming victory over Donald Trump.
1. White youth still voted for Trump in way too high numbers 2. Black people especially Black women saved you 3. Black people, for many reasons, are not as progressive as you ascribe
Basically, there is a lot more organizing to do and you can’t just say listen to Black people and then be very mad Biden was the nominee (in large part because of Black people) and then take credit for defeating Trump.
There are many factors to every election of course but this more than many others is very explainable by Black people showed TF up to save the nation. Not the youth, not white youth, BLACK PEOPLE.
