NEW: An 18-year veteran police officer, currently with the Houston Police Department, initially lied about entering the U.S. Capitol during the insurrection, the feds say.
They found photos and videos from inside the rotunda in his deleted images folder.
The obvious follow-up question is how many people are in prison on the word of this Houston cop who lied to the feds and (albeit hamfistedly) tried to destroy evidence? How many of his cases are going to be reexamined? huffpost.com/entry/houston-…
Houston Chief @ArtAcevedo says the officer resigned from the department on Friday, Jan. 15. That would be three days after his FBI interview. huffpost.com/entry/houston-…
Feds say a Michigan Trump fanatic who came to the Capitol and launched an attack with a hockey stick also went to the TCF Center in Detroit after the election, where a bunch of racists showed up to try and stop votes from being counted.
When your dad’s Facebook boost about you get the feds on your trail:
“Was he the guy sitting in Nancy Pelosi’s chair?”
His dad: “he was raised better.”
"It further shows the man with the hockey stick lifting the stick above his head and swinging it down rapidly, striking an individual on the ground several times.” justice.gov/opa/page/file/…
"New York City Police Department records confirm S1 is a retired police officer. Based on this statement, and the statement above about traveling with 'ex NYPD and some proud boys' your affiant believes that this comment indicated that KELLY planned to travel to [D.C.] with S1.”
“Wooh! We in this motherfucker!” he said in the Facebook livestream video. "Bro, they stormed the Capitol, bro…pushed the cops out of the way, everything… took it over.”
Importantly, it looks like the feds proactively obtained the information from Facebook in response to a search warrant.
It doesn’t look like this case came about as a result of a tip from a Facebook friend, but rather because the feds got a search warrant for Facebook videos posted from the Capitol. justice.gov/file/1356986/d…
