Facing new competition and sagging ratings, the network is heading deeper into the fever swamps. It will take the bulk of the right-wing media and GOP with it. mediamatters.org/fox-news/fox-n…
Since the election, Fox has cut its "news" hours for more right-wing propaganda, infused the remaining "news" shows with "opinion" content; and laid off employees who had at least a nominal commitment to reality.
Fox's 2020 coverage helped stymie the response to a pandemic that has killed more than 400,000 Americans to date and triggered an insurrection in which pro-Trump rioters stormed the U.S. Capitol.
What comes next will be worse.
Fox will try to win back pro-Trump viewers by promoting ever-more-unhinged conspiracy theories and using increasingly apocalyptic rhetoric that encourages more violent insurrections.
Much of the GOP and the right-wing media will follow their lead.
Fox is sending a clear message to the network’s advertisers and the cable providers that carry it that the network is unwilling to reform from within, that it will only get more dangerous, and that it is no longer willing or able to provide them with cover.
That puts the onus squarely on Fox’s corporate enablers to stop rewarding the network for its dangerous behavior.

.@pbump is correct that the rhetorical move Republicans and right-wing media are using is reminiscent of their "deplorables" backlash. Another case: their freak-out over the 2009 DHS report on right-wing extremism mediamatters.org/sean-hannity/c…
@pbump The report in question was about violent extremism, but right-wing media claimed it was actually an attack on their viewers, a way to silence them.
All of Fox's staffing and programming changes are going in the same direction -- they are breaking the "news" side in hopes of winning back their pro-Trump viewers. mediamatters.org/fox-news/despe…
The network's takeaway from the last few months is that it hasn't been Trumpy enough.
If you're still advertising on Fox, even on the "news" hours where executives told you you were safe, get out now before they torch your brand to win back their ratings. mediamatters.org/fox-news/these…
It looks like the My Pillow guy was urging the president to use the "Insurrection Act now as a result of the attack" and then "martial law if necessary."
The name of the document appears to be "[Steps?] To Be Taken Immediately To Save The [WORDS HIDDEN BY FOLD] To The Constitution."
Sounds like coup instructions.
It seems like the president hosted someone who suggested that he put loyalists in as national security adviser and CIA director, invoke the Insurrection Act, and attribute the election results to "Foreign Interference" by "China/Iran."
Fox's primetime shows all but ignored Biden's rollout of $1.9 billion in stimulus and covid relief last night, here's some of what they covered instead.
The closest they got to covering it is that Laura Ingraham really doesn't want to increase the minimum wage.
Doing policy segments is not as much fun for the hosts or interesting for the audience as inflammatory culture war stuff, but I'm sure they'll find a way to bridge the gap (probably by calling Biden's policies Marxist attempts to destroy America if past is prologue).
