200 left-wing protesters are on the streets in Portland right now, with anti-Biden and anti-police messages.

"We are ungovernable," one sign says.
The Portland crowd has now gone to the local headquarters of the Democratic Party, smashing windows and writing "Fuck Biden"
Seeing some criticism for calling the crowd "left wing," which was my shorthand to make clear that it isn't Trump supporters on the streets of Portland. The longer version is that the crowd is a mix of racial-justice, anti-fascist, anarchist, youth liberation, etc
I left this crowd to go up to another event. But police have shown up to make arrests. One officer shoves someone to the ground

A BLM car caravan is arriving at a separate Portland event where a couple hundred other people (mostly people not wearing black bloc) are gathering
"The fight has just begun," a speaker says.

This new Portland event is celebrating Trump's loss, but the group is calling for people to mobilize for more successes: Green New Deal, defunding police, Medicare For All, and more
A car crashed and flipped near the event. Part of the crowd rushed over, broke the windows to pull a family out, including a young child.

People in the crowd are saying they have spent months supporting law enforcement, including at "Back the Blue" rallies, and now say they won’t.

“I stand with antifa now,” someone shouted. Someone suggested creating a Patriot Autonomous Zone.
A video from earlier: The group chanting "Let us in" and kicking the door. And then one person in the crowd sneezes.

This was one of the most distressing days of the pandemic so far.

We tallied an astonishing 1,923 deaths today. Our daily average of 1,246 deaths is now the highest since the spring and 76% higher than a month ago.

The surge shows no sign of slowing. 1/

** That is 1 out of every 100 people in this nation. In one month. **

As we know, deaths tend to lag cases by weeks. But we are already seeing record hospitalizations — currently 79,410 people in the hospital with Covid-19.

In South Dakota, 1 out of every 1,493 people in the state are hospitalized with the virus.
