Antifa scuffled with police when they arrived beforehand at their meeting place of Revolutionary Hall.
Police had confiscated flag poles and apparently a knife beforehand.
Very bizarrely, an officer actually wielded the apparently confiscated knife during the fight. (See 1:30)

When I've seen cops confiscate knives or guns, they usually clear/secure the weapon and get it away from the situation.
I've never seen it be handled in an ensuing conflict.

Police threw one smoke canister in the ensuing conflict, which led antifa to believe it was tear gas and attempt to neutralize it until they ID'ed it as normal smoke ahead of their march to the DNC.
