Viruses always evolve to be more contagious if they can, while at the same time they evolve to being less virulent/pathogenic, especially respiratory viruses.
In their evolution, each virus strives to grab “market share” for its progeny. The best way to achieve this is to get host cells in the human body to generate as many copies of itself as possible, while at the same time not make that person so ill that they meet fewer people,
because if a sick person were too ill, then not be out and about, and end up not interacting with other people as much, the virus risks killing its host or itself becoming “killed” by its host (the human) before enabling its decendants the chance to relocate into another host....
and gain more market share, in addition to ensuring the continuity of its genetic line.

Lockdowns prevent this natural attenuation of the virus.
Lockdowns prevent attenuation and competition between viral strains, less virulent ones spread more because they don’t overwhelm the host, so they end up dominating.
Lockdowns prevent this, making it so the only virus spreading is the one predominantly in hospitals and care homes (because of lack of opportunity for attenuation through the younger healthy population and resultant competitive inhibition of the more pathogenic/virulent strains)
in the group of people who are immune compromised, among the very ill (having co-morbidities which means their bodies are not fit to fight an infection robustly), thus preventing the eclipse of potentially lethal strains at the hands of milder ones.
Not only do lockdowns fail to wipe out the disease, they essentially prolonging the process and potentially make it worse, by not allowing natural attenuation of the virus. Instead, because of lack of allowing it to spread through the younger healthier population, so that it will
attenuate and therefore no longer be so dangerous to the vulnerable groups with co-morbidities, the lockdowns are ensuring no attenuation which ensures not only maintaining the pathogenicity/virulence,...
but also potentially enhancing the pathogenicity/virulence due to not being out competed by a normally dominant attenuated strain. So the viral strains staying in the very ill DONT have a competitor, and they also stay longer in people with many co-morbidities,....
enabling more mutations (because a person with co-morbidities does not have a highly functional immune system to contain excess viral replication) within that individual whilst those around that individual are not getting exposed to a competitive attenuated strain....
that they normally would be, that would have given them protection and then they would share the attenuated strains more, thus further protecting more people and the vulnerable.

Lockdowns pretty much ensure a worse outcome.
It is important to continually expose ourselves to commensal bacteria which is what forms a healthy functioning immune system.

These lockdowns have also harmed many peoples immune systems, because a robust immune system is one that has regular interaction with a wider community
so as to continually micro-dose ourselves with little battle pathogens, so that our system stays active and primed.
The Europeans “conquered” the America’s because they were descendants from families who had lived in greater population densities sharing lots of germs. Our city-living, which was very unhygienic (however each one of us is descended from families that survived that level of poor
hygiene and poor nutrition!), those Europeans had extremely robust immune systems from all the communal sharing of bacteria and viruses. When they went to the America’s, they shared these germs with the native populations who had not lived in such population density’s before,
they didn’t have the selective pressure to evolve and thus prime their immune systems.

It’s like children who play with mud and have pets, they tend to also have stronger immune systems. Of course good nutrition plays a large role too.
However, nutrition is one part. Socialising, is a form of natural immunisation. It’s the foundation of the evolved functioning immune system.
