1./ Vaccine supply and the SNP: a tale in 3 headlines. Remember when Jeanne Freeman was asked to remove sensitive information about shipments of vaccines to the UK? She did. It was a mistake and she apologised on the 16th January.👇 thetimes.co.uk/article/covid-…
2./ A UK govt spokesman said "If other countries see how much we are getting they are likely to put pressure on the drug firms to give them some of our allocation." On the 19th January, Nicola Sturgeon dismissed that as the UK govt having a 'hissy fit'. heraldscotland.com/news/19022589.…
3./ 7 days later the EU says it will monitor the exports of vaccines. It even threatens to restrict them. It wants carefully to collect the information the Scottish govt thought it was sensible to splash on the front pages. Now, who's having a hissy fit? independent.co.uk/news/world/eur…
4./ But don't worry if the EU does restrict exports and we have to rely more on domestic production of vaccines there are effectively three manufacturing facililties on the way. The biggest was planned in 2018 and is being fast-track built as we speak. 👇vmicuk.com
5./ More and more of the AstraZeneca Oxford vaccine is also being made in England and filled into the precious vials in Wales....a supply chain for an innovative and complex product that's been pulled together at short notice and record time.👇
6./ The UK is also pouring money into a new French vaccine plant to be built here. We've ordered its vaccines, the EU is still talking about it. The plant is a mere 40 min drive from Holyrood. I wonder if Nicola even knows anything about it. pharmaceutical-technology.com/features/valne…

1./ Could the vaccine race become a vaccine war? Since demand so outstrips supply there was always a chance. Now the German health minister suggests exports of vaccines made in Germany should be licensed. Code for we could block exports to the UK. p.dw.com/p/3oORe?maca=e…
2./ His frustration is understandable but Spahn is playing with fire. When he went behind the EU Commission's back to purchase more vaccines, Italy promptly accused him of stealing from the rest of the EU. That's nothing to what this could unleash. theweek.co.uk/951628/germany…
3./ Spahn is trying to remedy a monumental EU screw up. And he's been a force for good. In December he insisted the European Medical Agency just hurry up and license the Pfizer vaccine....which just happens to be manufactured in Germany. Well done him. theguardian.com/society/2020/d…

1./ Last year, Dr David Bell spoke movingly at Holyrood alongside @ImWatson91 about the way girls in particular are being fast-tracked towards "transition". @ALLIANCELGB applauded his contribution. What was the reaction of the LGBTQ+ groups? Zilch. channel4.com/news/children-…
2./ Thousands of kids feel uncomfortable with gender norms. Not all will turn out gay but a good number may be. Arguing all kids should have the chance to work things out for themselves and go through puberty before being medicalised isn't hateful. Its the essence of kindness.
3./ It's not the fact the likes of @stonewalluk disagree that's so shocking. It's their failure even to engage. There wouldn't be the need for @ALLIANCELGB if the self-styled champions of LGBTQ+ didn't enforce a code of silence over this issue. To them it's unmentionable.

1./ Everyone is hoping for liberation from lockdown soon. But could it be time to get even tougher? This sobering piece from @derspiegel suggests new COVID variants should be treated as a new crisis and may require even stricter policies. spiegel.de/international/…
2./ No one wants to hear these words, but we can't avoid the discussion. "What we are facing is a new pandemic, epidemiologist @AdamJKucharski says. It could turn out what we've learned so far and the methods that have been used to combat the disease are no longer valid." Gulp.
3./ In countries as varied as Japan, Denmark and Portugal the spread of new COVID variants are showing that even if nations were successful the first time round the new wave of infections has them struggling to contain cases and soaring deaths. france24.com/en/europe/2021…

1./ The Global Race to Vaccinate has begun. Here are just some of the obstacles scientists and countries have to overcome in the biggest medical challenge in history. The good news, as stats from @OurWorldInData show, the UK has started well. But we're only on the first lap. Image
2./ As people compare their govt's performance it's accentuating bunfights for resources similar to those in the summer when countries trounced each other to obtain PPE. Every element of the vaccine supply chain is vital and now being fought over.👇telegraph.co.uk/news/2020/04/0…
3./ There are good signs the UK govt learned from its disastrous experience then (when test targets were undermined by shortages of reagents). As early as July it ordered 65M extra syringes. They'd grasped the need to put money on the table fast.👇pulsetoday.co.uk/news/clinical-…

1./ Oh look! @ScotlandLgb have started 2021 as we mean to continue: opposing gender identity nonsense. We responded to a letter from the lavishly funded lobby group @LGBTIScotland. They’d complained about our ads in the Herald with a bunch of unsubstantiated assertions. 👇
2./ Tim Hopkins claimed @ALLIANCELGB doesn’t even represent a minority position among LGB peeps. Rich given Equality Network itself isn’t a representative body. It’s more a job creation scheme funded by the Scottish govt to keep lobbyists like Hopkins from the dole queue.
3./ The govt funnels tax payers money into Equality Network’s coffers so it can then lobby for the anti-gay, misogynistic and child harming policies the politicians would be a tad embarrassed to champion otherwise. I wonder why Tim i$ so worried about u$. 💷💷💷

1./ Your reminder totalitarian dictatorship doesn't do wonders for originality. Xi Jinping's 2021 New Year's address included these insightful thoughts: 'Greatness is forged in the ordinary' and 'Every person is remarkable!' Those were the high points. chinadaily.com.cn/a/202012/31/WS…
2./ @ChinaDailyUSA had this handy guide to its other err.. inspirational quotes such as 'We see a successful conclusion of the 12th 5 Year Plan', 'Happiness is achieved through hard work' and 'We are all dream chasers'. Yeah, chase that dream baby. chinadaily.com.cn/a/202012/31/WS…
3./ Strangely...none of these 'inspirational quotes' include thanks to the whistleblowers who brought the Wuhan epidemic to the attention of the central authorities including Zhang Zhan. 5 days ago she was jailed.👇 hongkongfp.com/2020/12/28/chi…
