I'll be speaking on the senate floor about impeachment around 12:30 today. Watch live here: c-span.org/congress/?cham…
This impeachment is nothing more than a partisan exercise designed to further divide the country. Democrats claim to want unify the country but impeaching a former president, a private citizen, is the antithesis of unity.
Democrats brazenly appointing a pro impeachment democrat to preside over the trial is not fair or impartial and hardly indicates any kind of unity for the country.
No, unity is the opposite of this travesty we are about to witness.
If we are about to try to impeach a President - where is the Chief Justice?
If the accused is no longer President - where is the constitutional power to impeach him?
Private citizens don’t get impeached. Impeachment is for removal from office, and the accused here has already left office.
Hyper-partisan Democrats are about to drag our great country down into the gutter of rancor and vitriol the likes of which has never been seen in our nation’s history.
Instead of doing the nation’s work with their new majorities in the House, Senate and Executive Branch, Democrats are wasting the nation’s time on a partisan vendetta against a man no longer in office. It’s almost as if they have no ability to exist except in opposition to Trump
Without him as their boogeyman, they might have to legislate, and to actually convince Americans that their policy prescriptions are the right ones.
I want this body on record. Is this how you think politics should be?
In a few minutes I will insist on a vote to affirm that this proceeding is unconstitutional...

I’m back with some more holiday cheer...I mean #Festivus grievances!
Take Congress...PLEASE! They have really outdone themselves this year with the massive special interest giveaway disguised as a relief bill. It is a disgrace in both the level of spending and the process they used to try to sneak it through. But this week’s pork-a-thon isn’t new.
My #Festivus Waste Report is now an unfortunate Holiday tradition, though a shameful one, if most legislators had any shame. Why? This one report details $54 BILLION in wasted spending.
Good morning and Happy #Festivus. Today we will air some more grievances in the holiday tradition!
I’ll throw in a new wrinkle this year because SO MANY people are joining in with my grievances that I want to highlight how the word is spreading — your government is out of control, and a LOT of us have grievances.
We will talk about Congress, Petty Tyrants all over, foreign aid, wasteful spending, science denying “experts” and other holiday goodies. This is not the time for holiday cheer! That’s for TOMORROW, AFTER we air our grievances.
Today around 1:45 I'll speak on the effect Congress’ reckless spending will have on future generations and once again I'll call for finding savings in the current budget to pay for our priorities and reopening the economy. Watch here: c-span.org/congress/?cham…
The coffers are bare. We have no rainy day fund. We have no savings account. Congress has spent all of the money. Congress spent all of the money a long time ago.
The monster spending bill presented today is not just a ‘deficit’s don’t matter disaster,’ it is everything Republicans say they don’t believe in.
I'll soon be speaking on the floor about our America's endless war. Watch here: c-span.org/congress/?cham…
Today, the subject is war powers. The hawks and neocons somehow want you to believe, in contrast to all logic, that the President of the United States has the unitary power to go to war anytime he wants, anywhere, free from interference from Congress.
The best part of any debate is when you see people twisting themselves in knots, going against their own alleged principles to get their desired results.
