<Content Warning> Footage released to @MLive by U.S. Attorney's office shows why federal prosecutors called Michigan resident Michael Foy one of the “most violent” participants in the Capitol riots.

Federal prosecutors said Foy, 30, was among the most aggressive at the riot. He faces 4 felonies for allegedly assaulting police with a hockey stick.

"Foy took a leadership role: he personally attacked officers and appears to have led others into the Capitol.”
Foy, a former U.S. Marine, was arrested at his home on Jan. 21, where police found the hockey stick he allegedly used to attack police. No prior criminal record.

Judge denied Foy’s request to be released on bond Monday, declaring him a danger to the community and himself. ImageImageImage
Video shows the west entrance to Capitol. Foy is wearing gray/green hooded jacket and armed with a hockey stick wrapped in a Trump flag. He put the flag down to pick up a stick, shown here, that he's seen throwing at police. Image
Video shows rioters rush toward police with Foy following closely behind, hockey stick raised overhead. The video shows Foy swing the stick several times, first striking a riot shield and then making contact with officers fighting a mob of rioters.

Officers were allegedly struck at least 10 times by Foy, who is seen swinging the hockey stick over his head in a 180-degree motion. The crowd can be heard cheering and chanting “USA” as the mob fights police.

Body camera footage shows a chaotic scene, as rioters climb over one another and brawl with armored officers. A voice can be heard shouting “save her” as the mob tumbles over itself, possibly referring to a woman who was trampled and killed in the riots.
The officer recording the footage briefly lost their helmet. Shortly after the officer put their helmet back on, a man wearing a University of Michigan sweater rushed forward and pushed them on the ground.

The man had a stick, but another rioter told him to drop it. ImageImageImageImage
The FBI is seeking more info about the man in the U-M hoodie. Anyone with information is asked to call police at (202) 727-9099 or text 50411.

As the officer lays on the ground, Foy’s hockey stick can be seen hitting police surrounding them.

“Fuck you! I’ll fucking kill you,” a voice can be heard screaming as the officer struggles to get on their feet.

The footage ends with the officer still on their back. Image
Prosecutors accused Foy of hitting officers at least 10 times. The videos show Foy using his hockey stick to strike police across the head and body as officers melee with rioters. Image
Another video shared by the court shows Foy back up into the crowd before entering the Capitol through a broken window. A rioter wearing a red “Make America Great Again hat” and recording the scene with a camera briefly helps Foy.
Prosecutors obtained photos from inside the Capitol that were on Foy's phone. This image of him taken from outside the building was included in court documents. Image
Prosecutors said Foy suffers from PTSD and is a heavy alcohol user. Prosecutors said he attempted suicide in January before traveling to the Capitol.

Foy's attorney said he was recently prescribed new meds and struggles with mental health after being honorably discharged.
Foy's attorney said he didn't bring the hockey stick with the intention of hurting anyone. He was photographed at rallies in Lansing and Detroit and didn't bring weapons to those.

Prosecutors said Foy's behavior escalated since November and argued he led charge against police.
Foy remains in jail. Meanwhile, the National Guard is sending troops back to D.C. after a DHS terror alert warned the Jan. 6 riots could embolden more attacks.
