‘Two different research groups have recently demonstrated the presence of infectious SARS-CoV-2 viruses in aerosol samples from patient rooms. ... these studies very likely underestimate the amount of viable airborne virus available for inhalation by others.’
‘Exposure to small airborne particles is just as - or even more - likely to lead to infection with SARS-CoV-2 as the more widely recognized transmission via larger respiratory droplets and/or direct contact with infected people or contaminated surfaces.’
‘Aside from the obvious benefits of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), the existing evidence is sufficiently strong to warrant engineering controls targeting airborne transmission as part of an overall strategy to limit the infection risk indoors.’
‘include sufficient and effective ventilation, possibly enhanced by particle filtration and air disinfection; and the avoidance of systems that recirculate or mix air. Opening windows... provides more than a gesture towards reducing the risk of infection’
‘Measures to control overcrowding in both healthcare and confined indoor environments in the community, including public transport, are also relevant... a range of cost-effective measures (to reduce airborn particles) are easily implemented, without... major expenditure’

‘Britain’s application to join a trade group in the Pacific while ending free trade with the EU — Brexit has spawned vast amounts of trade red tape and border controls — is one of the apparent paradoxes of UK trade policy.’
It’s not a paradox. It’s stupid.
‘Another UK government study in 2018 suggested that trade deals with non-EU countries and blocs such as China, India, Australia, the Gulf countries and south-east Asia would only raise British GDP by a total of 0.1-0.4 per cent over the long term.’
I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal.”
I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia, the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave owners will be able to sit down together at the table of brotherhood.
@13sarahmurphy Swiftly. Firmly. Clearly.
I would explain what was necessary and why and from day 1.
I would have coordinated & cooperated with other countries.
I would not lie.
I would not blame others for govt error. There will be error.
Every household would have received masks in March.
@13sarahmurphy I would have reviewed pandemic plans as soon as the WHO declared a public health emergency. I would immediately have invested in local PPE capacity. I would be regretting underfunding the NHS for 10 years. I would have asked the NHS to plan for the emergency on Jan 30th.
@13sarahmurphy On Jan 31 I would have talked to PHE & Public Health teams planning to urgently increase test and trace resources.
I would have developed and put in place a plan around international border control & setting up internal ‘borders’ to quarantine areas of the UK to contain spread.
‘Strikingly, sC5b9 levels were abnormal even in children with minimal disease or an incidental finding of SARS-CoV-2 infection, suggesting that any exposure to SARS-CoV-2 may be sufficient to induce elevations in this biomarker.’
‘Elevations in sC5b9 correlated with evidence of renal dysfunction, implying that higher levels of terminal complement activation were associated with renal injury.’
