So, I was doing some research for something (I thought was unrelated 📌)and came across this...You guys remember Don McGahn right? White House Counsel for trump during the period he tried to have Attorney General Sessions fired for recusing during the Mueller investigation? 🧵👇🏻
This is a 2016 Forbes article wherein they question Don McGahn’s appointment as White House counsel. At the time they were worried about conflicts of interest. They used the word ‘consigliere’. 🐴🤔
Well here is not necessarily a conflict of interest so much as a pattern of ‘keeping it in the family’. DYK that the uncle of former WH Counsel Don McGahn was Patrick McGahn and he was trump’s lawyer in 1992 during an investigation by the NJ Division of Gaming Enforcement?
But Joe, what’s your point? The point is, we may have just had our first mob run presidency. Family, nepotism, ‘consigliere’, oh and that thing trump demanded of all including Comey, what was it...oh yeah, loyalty.
You may also remember McGahn still has refused to comply with a subpoena issued by Congress for his testimony related to Obstruction of Justice within the Mueller Report. Supreme Court ruled there is no such thing as ‘absolute immunity’
@RepJerryNadler looking at you for the answer to that question.
An impeachment hearing is set to begin February 9th. Perhaps Nadler should hold a hearing prior to that with McGahn and ask how far back and for what purposes his relationship with trump went.
Considering trump is in the process of trying to set up a shadow government where he is the leader, I can’t help but point out how this all has a mob family feel to it. As if President RICO was running the government like a corrupt organization.
What also seems to point to trump running a corrupt enterprise is his summoning of House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy. If we have a criminal mob boss pulling the strings of our government right now, and the Republicans in the Senate AGAIN acquit him, we’re done as a democracy.
We may even be lost now and not know it. We may think we have won by beating him in November, but if he is allowed to be acquitted again by complicit/compromised Senators, without the testimony of Don McGahn and what he might be able to provide to the Senate, we are lost now.
I used to think at the very least we need a #TrumpCrimesCommission but now, at the very least we need McGahn to testify.
We do not have time for the media to be asleep at the switch here. Our focus needs to be on every story of everything this corrupt regime, including those still in office, are allowed to get away with. Insurrection is just the latest. This activity goes back years.
Why are the Senators still scared of a man not in power and who has lost the inability to tweet? A man that Rudy Giuliani is willing to put himself in a position for to be disbarred, sued by vote machine company Dominion for $1.3b and by @ProjectLincoln for who knows what?
📌As for the research, it continues. I don’t know if it will pan out, but it has yielded a variety of questions and coincidences so far that require answers. Who is trump really? And is Rudy around because of his knowledge of RICO?👇🏻
If there is a RICO case to be made against trump, then why not at least do what they are doing to the insurrectionists? Charge him with lesser crimes while they continue to investigate the larger ones. Arrest private citizen, Individual-1. Do it tomorrow.
If individual-1 is indicted prior to his Impeachment trial, the House Managers can raise that at trial. Another thing the Republican Senators will have to look the other way on. Let’s see how fast he goes from tough guy to wearing disheveled robes, pushing a Weinstein walker.
In a week where @craigunger confirms trump was a Russian asset, can we at least arrest individual-1 to prevent the next insurrection or whatever he is cooking up with Kevin McCarthy? Then, supersede w/ RICO charges.
END
During impeachment, it’s important to understand who the House Managers are. They are the ones to present the case to convince the Senate that trump should never again hold office. So let’s look at team democracy’s starting lineup and why it’s them.

Our lead House Manager is @RepRaskin. Jamie Raskin is a constitutional scholar. A professor. He knows our Constitution so well, he knows it’s strengths and weaknesses. He has a bill to strengthen our 25th Amendment by allowing professionals to evaluate fitness of president.
So why is it important to have a Constitutional scholar as a prosecutor in the case against trump? Because the Republicans in the Senate aren’t even convinced the trial of the twice impeached president is even legal. They first have to be convinced the trial can even happen.
Seditious insurrections need to be put down. We can speak of turning pages or healing, but there is no healing without action. Action must be taken. Insurrections can not be allowed to fizzle because they never do. Do we need prosecutions? You betcha! 🧵👇🏻
trump has no idea about what is he involved in. Democracy? Justice? These words do not compute in his mind. He is addicted to himself and his own well being. Which is why he is easily being used as much as he is using the true threat. He is a tool of the GOP.
The GOP is a fascist organization. It is now win at all cost. Politics has become a Zero sum game to them. They want to win. Which means there are winners and there has to be losers. If you aren’t one of with them, you are a loser. This is no longer a political organization.
I watch a lot of the first 48. It is a show about the first 48 hours after a murder. The detectives say their chances of solving a murder are severely diminished if they can’t do it within the first 48 hours. A wee thread on Black Friday.👇🏻
The first 48 takes the viewer from the 911 call through arrest when able, and sometimes they tell you the judgment imposed by the courts. What I’ve found is this show is not entertaining, but rather an expose on the structures of and peek behind the curtain to structural racism.
These are not law and order detective stories. This isn’t a made for 9pm crime drama. This is real life people, being killed, by other real life people and leaving behind real life victims. The dead leave children, families, friends, holes.
Good morning troops, today the former FBI Director James Comey is testifying to Lindsey Graham’s Senate Judiciary Committee. You know the drill. Look to see which Senators are asking questions designed to elicit the truth and which are designed to misdirect.
Lindsey gavels us in and immediately starts talking about FISA warrants. He is investigating the investigators. He is attacking the process. IG Horowitz report will be on full display I suspect. Remember in it, they found ‘discrepancies’ in the FISA applications.
Those discrepancies were typos, documents attached to documents that should have been attached to other documents.
The key finding in the Horowitz report was that no material discrepancies would have stopped the investigation.
Last night actually happened. It hurt. It was abusive. It was an emotional assault. It was what a cornered scared wild animal does. It was the death throes of antiquated thinking. Joe got bum rushed, he knew it was coming, but it still stings the senses to see it play out.
Imagine for a second that the wicked witch was real. Imagine the terror you might feel when you see her literally melt in front of you. It’s not a pleasant thing. There is yelling. There is violent hand waving, there is destruction. All on display last night.
Last night we saw the witch get wet. trump didn’t do that for him. His own people are saying it was a bit much. He didn’t do it for the votes. He didn’t even do it for money. He did it for the distraction. He is a weapon of mass distraction. And he needs a big one.
Sullivan needs a certification that all evidence submitted is on the up and up. This is in relation to yesterday’s filing about there being alterations to Strzok’s notes. Gives DOJ a week.
Sullivan wants to know how much weight to give trump’s tweets. DOJ essentially says look at the facts, not his tweets.
The way DOJ Solicitor General Moopan says ‘Authoritative’ is chilling when he tells Sullivan, the Executive Branch made an authoritative decision to dismiss Flynn’s case. Shivers. Judge Gleeson up next.
