Keep coming back to this. 2 former Rams execs just signed off on a deal for Goff and his $$. They know him. No guarantees but it’s a calculated risk they took for what I’d guess was an additional 1. They were going to get draft picks regardless. Some sooner and prob higher.
What they weren’t going to get was a 26 year old qb who has had some success but has also struggled. Campbell’s on record as saying this will take time. Why not kick tires while you fix other issues?
Zero guarantees he works out but at worst you have a gap qb and maybe better.
Keep hearing people say you HAVE TO take a qb at 7. Worst thing you can do is take one if you’re not sold on him. If you do like a guy then take him and he’s got time which say Lance clearly needs. This buys time when winning will be a challenge anyway.
As for cap implications. It’s a hit, no doubt. But contracts can be reworked and this roster is headed for major changes which will alleviate some of that. Again, calculated risk taken by Holmes and Agnew who know him well. We will see if it works it and see you at 11pm #Fox2
