Hopes to go back on live tour in US @ronnychieng in 2021 and looking forward it. Thinks stand up comedy has moved on from DJT. That a different focus than the @TheDailyShow which needs to be aware of daily news.
Answering his own journey for cultural identity. Arrived to US in 2015. Asian person raised in Asian who voluntarily moved to US for work.. if you come by choice - 1st gen - are optimistic and wide eyed. If 2nd gen have rightfully so expectations of more and frustrated if can’t!
Smart smart answer by @ronnychieng and perhaps why @AndrewYang and others feel differently (our parents) about what we can and can’t do. See my piece - davisliumd.com/andrew-yang-im…
Experience with #crazyrichasians because everyone was in show business, same age and had a short hand that allowed a comfort level - don’t have to explain what is Korean BBQ is! Was great fun!
#crazyrichasians regardless of whether you liked it or not - it set a floor of what was expected for Asian films in the US - so many Asian men and women, complex characters, in different roles.

Go see them so that decision makers will green-light other films that you DO want.
His responsibility to be the model Asian? @ronnychieng cares about the audience in the aggregate and not specific for a group to make great content.

And have original angle, will go for it.. to represent community the best, need to best comic possible! #RepresentationMatters
Examples of original angle and Asian American experience - why Asian parents want children to be doctors... It’s not because to help people.. it’s 💰 💵 @netflix
@ronnychieng - “Congratulations on getting into Princeton. Your life is perfect.”
@ronnychieng - high praise for working at the @TheDailyShow - consummate professionals, high volume work, live in the present, extensive experience along the entire spectrum- “it’s like the HBS of comedy” and being at @Patriots -
Most challenging aspect in entertainment as Asian American? comedy the trope is self deprecating humor - doesn’t work well for Asians. Works better for other comedians.

Also realistic about success. Don’t play the game. Find your own path. (Reminiscent of EDGE @LauraHuangLA)
@ronnychieng channeling Steve Jobs - you don’t know how the dots connect until you look backwards.

It’s more about navigating uncertainty and which 🚪 you open. Unclear until later this connection resulted in this connection.

Everybody faces that. ( 💯 @ronnychieng !!)
Monica Youn like @ronnychieng did law school and decided that isn’t what she loved... and moved on to something had passion for...

Going to law school for @ronnychieng provided experience and context... and grateful for that (agree 💯)
@ronnychieng did accounting and hated it and knowing what to eliminating options is key!

What did would you tell you 20 year old self? What would change anything?

Nothing.

Travel at your own pace. The race is not to be first. It’s more run your own race.
@ronnychieng - has been fortunate that hasn’t needed to compromise artistic talent.

If it was, was due to being inexperienced and starting out..

Goal is making himself happy.

And we should be more sympathetic to those who take on roles that we think don’t advance the group.

"Taiwan is an example of how a society can respond quickly to a crisis and protect the interests of its citizens.” -> Taiwan sets gold standard on epidemic response to keep infection rates low telegraph.co.uk/news/2020/03/0…
As nearby Japan and South Korea reel with thousands of infections, experts say Taiwan, an island of 23 million, has kept the virus at bay through early intervention, a slick command structure, well-rehearsed epidemic strategy
and transparent communication that other countries including the UK could learn from.

By late December, before the coronavirus was on the world’s radar, Taiwan’s government was already sensing danger from rumours of a new respiratory disease emerging from Wuhan,
