i think we're in jun 17 wrt BTC
im very unsure if ETH / defi can decouple from the BTC cycle

the optimist in me thinks it can
the pessimist in me thinks "yea this time is different lol"

the realist in me thinks its too soon to say for sure
also a lot of new projects are straight up garbage (wont say which cos yall are sensitive snowflakes)

yall running down the idealism path at top speed no brakes

i fondly rmb $KNC because in dec 19 i was arguing with a scammer "defi" account back how burn models are dumb and the rebuttal was that $RUNE is a scam and i dont know shit

31 dec 19 to 30 jan 21

even with all of ETH's success as a platform and community, only die-hard ETH maxis view ETH as a legit SoV

multiple SoVs will definitely exist (you cant stop stupid people from being stupid), but their popularity and SoV-ness will likely be power law distributed Image
my personal aversion to viewing ETH as a SoV its the absolutely autism "ETH is money" meme

i will most definitely be seeking refuge to a higher allocation % in BTC over ETH for whatever i do not cash out when i am expecting a crypto bear market
can ETH eventually offer more utility and overcome the "meme" strength of BTC to be the premier crypto SoV?

probably, eventually, it's definitely a possibility
