Our country is defined by a struggle to make its foundational moral witness more authentic by building a more perfect union that includes us all. That story and struggle cannot be told completely without reference to people of African descent. #BlackHistoryMonth2021 (1/5)
Dr. King, & those brave men and women who worked & marched alongside him, weren’t just fighting to improve the lives of Black Americans. They pushed every American to appeal to the better angels of their nature, and opened the door of possibility & promise for a new future.(2/5)
This history is not lost on me: today, a child of coastal Georgia serves as the 11th Black senator in our nation’s history, the first Black senator to represent Georgia, and the first Black Democratic senator to be elected in the South. (3/5)
