This film is a fully plagiarized, shot-for-shot remake of my comic. The filmmakers didn't ask me for permission to adapt my work. They didn't even notify me they were doing so until the film had already been released and was winning awards at film festivals.
They emailed me in October, when the film was making festival rounds, & asked me to HELP PROMOTE it. When I told them I didn't approve of it and asked them to pull it from festivals, they ghosted me for months. Now they've premiered it on @WeAreDN, & don't even credit me by name.
The comic they stole is deeply personal to me, maybe the most personal comic I've ever made. I drew it shortly after I left my day job because of disputes over ownership of my personal work. The comic is about self-care, reinvention, and personal growth.
They talk about working with @jaythorpe to develop the character. Did they tell him he'd signed on to plagiarized film? Did the other cast and crew know? How are they not mortified to make this and then release it online?
After ghosting me, all the filmmakers made their accounts private or blocked me. I should've known they never intended to honor my request to pull the film.
But hey, I guess it's nice to know my stories are out there winning awards, even if I'm not credited.

I just finished my longest comic ever. I'll be releasing it in parts over the next several days, but you can read the whole thing now on either my Patreon or Onlyfans.
(TW: racism, abuse) I try not to talk about this much, cuz it's a bummer, but there's been a weird campaign going on against me for the past few years. It started with editing my comics to make me appear racist and graduated to gross sexual rumors about me.
I try to ignore it because I feel like giving them attention is what they want, but when fake racist comics and rumors about me being a predator who's into scatplay (gag) keep popping up on Reddit and 4chan, turning a blind eye just seems to give more power to it.
I had to change my phone number because they found it and made a fake Craiglist listing for sex. It all comes and goes in waves. It gets worse when I talk about any sort of social issues, or I'm critical of Trump. I've elaborated on this before, and I won't rehash the details.
In 2017 I was the target of a months-long harassment campaign. Alt-right trolls from Reddit and 4chan doxxed me, sent me death threats, and attempted to contact my managers at work. They publicly posted my home address. (thread)
Once when I left work for lunch, I saw someone across the street taking photos of me, which later wound up on Twitter with my work's address. Another time, late at night on the subway, someone locked eyes with me, took out a knife, and began tapping on one of the metal poles.
I reported it to the police, but they didn't do anything. I became afraid to walk alone at night. At the height of it I felt like I couldn't even leave my home.
It died down but never really ended. I still get threats fairly often, especially when I post something "political."
Also people saying “that’s what you get for using box dye” are helping exactly no one. Like pardon me for not having the same insider information as you. I was platinum before and followed directions. It’s false advertising.
