On "many solutions" to the NI border"

Featuring as its main characters:

Penny Mordaunt

Jacob Rees Mogg

Theresa Villiers

Nigel Lawson

And others
So first we go all the way back to those heady days

Before 23rd June 2016

Where folk peddled a story that they had "many solutions" to the NI border
You take the Buzzfeed session with Penny Mordaunt

buzzfeed.com/matthewchampio…
And at 42:00 the question from the audience below

Audience Member:

"In the event that vote leave win how would you propose that we control the land border with Ireland without negatively affecting what are quite delicate relations in that region"
Penny: "There have been a number of u really sort of uh tragic moments in this uh campaign and I think that some of the uh suggestions that have been made uh about people's commitment to a peace process and so forth has really offended a lot of people and I deeply regret that."
Penny:" I think that we have a very close relationship with Ireland.

Actually the UK & Ireland are one of , well we are probably the only two countries that really play by the rules in the EU and I think that we would make these arrangements between ourselves "
Penny: "There is many ways of doing it

You could have for example arrangements made in Dublin for people that might be flying into Ireland and then travelling "
Presenter: "But Penny fundamentally you are going to have the issue EU citizens are still going to be able to go to Ireland and be right up against the UK border and so as much as we can control one border basically there will be another route in."
Penny: "well its not just people there checking its about the powers that we have to prevent people from coming in"
Penny: "At the moment we can't apply the rules that we think are sensible and we use for the rest of the world to people coming in from the EU even if we have got real suspicious about the documents they are carrying we have to provide additional proofs. "
Penny: "So we might have suspicious about someone we might know they are involved in a terrorist organisation or have associations with it"
Penny: "but we have a further burden of proof which we have to demonstrate they are a current threat that they are potentially planning something. and its a higher burden of proof this was a ruling made in 2014"
Penny: "and what comes with leaving is the ability to take back control of those rules so we can make a judgement whether someone can come in or not"
So I am going to focus on just one part of Penny's answer

Amidst the rest

And she peddles the lies and the deflectionary bullshit and noise so easily as she touts for Vote Leave

"There is many ways of doing it"

Tell us one of them.

That is all.
If you have a plan. It should detail those solutions

14/6/2016 Daily Telegraph

"Boris Johnson and Michael Gove, the two leading figures in the Leave campaign, have drawn up a blueprint for implementing a Brexit. Sensibly, it calls for flexibility and a period of reflection."
if you had that plan

Why would you not present that detail

Instead of leaving a Prime Minister hanging as to what the solutions are

Instead "nervous laughter"

See Michael Gove

Gove admitted cabinet ministers remained conflicted about both proposals, saying “there is agreement that neither of these two models is absolutely perfect”

You had many solutions

Why would there be any conflict?
Or see Jacob Rees Mogg

"The checks don't need to take place on the goods at the border, they need to take place on the goods once they have passed through."

So

We have went through 4-5 years of lies

There was no many solutions

It was a lie

Just designed to sell brexit

See Dominic
We have went through years of utter tripe

Then of course you have those having to deal with the consequences of that Irish Sea border

And you have @BrandonLewis denying such a thing exists

It is no surprised as you are faced to deal with the effects of your lies

You still have no choice but to lie

To those who want the Irish Sea border removed

A simple question

What do you want it replaced with?

[thread] A client journalist

Appropriating the vaccine for Boris Johnson & union

It should be pointed out

That it is possible to be delighted at the vaccine purchase, approval, supply & jabbing

AND also be horrified at a PM, govt and party that led a nation to >100,000 dead
"The British vaccine strategy shows the benefits of a nation state being able to move at its own pace, and not having to wait for consensus to be reached among 27 countries"

It doesn't

That's a lie

But James know that

He's a client shovelling the shite Image
The UK was able to

authorise medicines for emergency whilst in the transition period e.g. in the EU.

choose to fund pharma companies

choose to pre-purchase medicines ahead of the R&D and approval stages completing

That is NOT a benefit of brexit

I am going to do a thread on several numbers

1

2,996

4,494

43,730

106,158
Now

We go back into the dim and distant past in British politics

We go back over 2 decades

A lesson from the past

Now I am going to focus on the words of two politicians

Two politicians who have held high offices in this land

And I am going to agree with their words
So those with a long memory

May have already figured out perhaps what I am going to do based on the first two numbers

And you'd be right

So let me get going on the journey

In my first post

I deliberately anonymised those numbers

Let me now give them context

It's well written btw - deliberately so
"Scottish independence would break up our family… and families are strongest when they stick together"

"THIS terrible pandemic has brought home to us all the importance of family. "

This is like when Stanley Johnson said that the UK only took coronavirus seriously when Boris Johnson got infected.

No - it didn't take a pandemic to remind me of the importance of family.
