As part of measures to stem the tide of rising cases of Cervical Cancer and also intensify its awareness in the State, the General Hospital, Ifako Ijaiye, has commenced free cervical cancer screening for women across the Lagos metropolis.

The Medical Director of the facility, Dr. Olusola Amure, who disclosed this at a stakeholders’ meeting on Tuesday, said that even though cervical cancer is the fourth most common cancer in women globally, it can be successfully treated and managed effectively if detected early.
He suggested regular screening for early diagnosis because the symptoms do not present themselves until the late stages.
