#AnastasioHernandezRojas was beaten, tased & tortured to death by border agents. His family has struggled to find justice since 2010. This week @AllianceSnDiego@BerkeleyLaw filing of new testimony from former high-ranking DHS officials point to @CBP cover up in case before IACHR
45 pgs of testimony by former DHS Assistant Inspector Gen John Dupuy, former CBP Asst Commissioner for Internal Affairs James Tomsheck, & former CBP Deputy Asst Commissioner for Internal Affairs James Wong explain how @CBP obstructed investigations: #AnastasioHernandezRojas
In his testimony, former CBP Asst Commissioner for Internal Affairs James Tomsheck stated @CBP is "afflicted by an institutional narcissism" and that "BP has inevitably been used to justify excessive use of force incidents and to cover up corruption." #AnastasioHernandezRojas
Former @CBP Deputy Asst Commissioner for Internal Affairs James Wong brings receipts abt #BorderPatrol who illegally used an admin subpoena to get a copy of #AnastasioHernandezRojas' autopsy report "which is improper if not a criminal use of an administrative subpoena."
Former DHS Asst Inspector Gen. Dupuy pts to a "dereliction of duty by OIG." "The video... showed victim subdued, on the ground in handcuffs when the officers claimed he was standing & combative. The video showed a man being Tased while detained. #AnastasioHernandezRojas
For more than 10 yrs #AnastasioHernandezRojas' family has led the charge to hold @CBP accountable for brutal killing & now former DHS agents pt to cover up a brutal homicide, acting w malfeasance, corrupting an investigation, & acting conspiratorial against quest for true justice
During those 10 years, #AnastasioHernandezRojas' parents and other family members passed away, never arriving at a point of experiencing justice.
The expert testimonies expose misconduct pervasiveness & raises questions about all incidents where @CBP agents have used force & where there has been loss of life.
This is the 1st known extrajudicial killing IACHR case involving US law enforcement. #AnastasioHernandezRojas

A short story of #BorderPatrol calling INM (National Institute of Migration) to kick us off of mountain (in Mexico) documenting “paused” border wall construction project (or what remains of it).
My good friend Dan has been monitoring border wall construction projects for nearly 2 years in the Otay Mountain Wilderness, from Tijuana side, with rarely any problems. His witness to the destruction has been extremely important. See this video from a month ago.
As we climbed, we could hear a single clincking of working metal in the distance. It appeared to us that a backhoe was digging a trench on the secondary border wall line. Several #BorderPatrol vehicles were in the area.
In Portland & elsewhere, it's not Trump's "secret" police or a new paramilitary force. This is the #BorderPatrol, & bipartisan Congresses for decades have bloated its budget & enabled it to act with impunity in our communities along the US-Mexico border. We breathe this reality.
I've described here how from Nixon to Trump and all in-between, the militarization of border communities, including quadrupling Border Patrol personnel, set-up a formula for an unaccountable police force.
Emboldened by a white supremacist with authoritarian aspirations, this formula becomes a greater threat to you and the Constitution meant to protect you because Border Patrol enjoys unprecedented powers within 100 air miles "from any external boundary.” law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/8/…
