Amazon CEO, Jeff Bezos, will step down in late 2021.
According to an announcement on Tuesday, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos will step down later this year, handing over control to the cloud company CEO Andy Yassy. Bezos will become Amazon's executive chairman.
Bezos, 57, founded Amazon in 1994 and has since transformed the one-time online bookstore into a mega-retailer with global reach across many different categories, from gadgets to grocery stores and streaming.
Bezos' leadership, Amazon's market cap surpassed $ 1 trillion last January and is now worth over $ 1.6 trillion. The company kept its succession plans under wraps, although observers speculated that either Yassy or Jeff Wilke, CEO of Amazon's global consumer business, would ...
eventually succeed Bezos. Amazon announced in August that Wilke would retire in 2021. Yassy, 53, will take over as CEO in the third quarter.
Yassy joined Amazon in 1997 and has led the Amazon Web Services cloud team since its founding.
AWS continues to generate the majority of Amazon's revenue. The news comes alongside its earnings report, in which Amazon posted its $ 100 billion in the first quarter. AWS, operated by Jassy, reported 28% revenue growth in the fourth quarter.
As of October 2020, about 52% of Amazon's operating income came from AWS. Amazon shares are up about 10% in extended trading on Tuesday, up about 4% in 2021, and nearly 79% in the past 12 months.

An Analysis of the Unfolding Tragic Events in Nigeria
A Thread.

1. The Situation:
Powerful elements within the Federal Government and foreign players are responsible for an Islamist insurgency that has spread to the South from Central Nigeria.
Its purpose is to realise an old transnational Fulani agenda of Islamic revivalism and territorial expansion, which has been given urgent impetus by climate change, food insecurities, development and environmental challenges in the Sahel region of West Africa.
2. The North:
The powerful Islamist elements within the Federal Government are determinedly committed to this policy of fulfilling, in its entirety, Othman dan Fodio's vision, and no amount of pleading or negotiations will halt it.

FRANCISCO FRANCO
A historical thread.
The general and dictator Francisco Franco (1892-1975) ruled over Spain from 1939 until his death. He rose to power during the bloody Spanish Civil War when, with the help of Nazi Germany and Fascist Italy, his Nationalist forces overthrew the
democratically elected Second Republic. Adopting the title of “El Caudillo” (The Leader), Franco persecuted political opponents, repressed the culture and language of Spain’s Basque and Catalan regions, censured the media and otherwise exerted absolute control over the country.
Some of these restrictions gradually eased as Franco got older, and upon his death the country transitioned to democracy.
Franco: The Early Years
Francisco Franco y Bahamonde was born on December 4, 1892, in El Ferrol, a small coastal town on Spain’s northwestern tip.

Of Voting But Not Being Voted For: The Hausa Plaintive Cry On Recovering Their Lost Kingdoms.

These Kingdoms were viable in virtually every aspect of human endeavour at that time. I should draw the readers attention to the meaning of the Hausa word ”Banza”. Banza, is a ...
derogatory word which means worthless or anything that is of lower quality which clearly showed a marked distinction between the Hausa Bakwai and the Banza Bakwai Kingdoms.
There may have been the pastoral or nomadic Fulani as part of the population in these Kingdoms but not...
much if anything was recorded in this respect. The Fulani got a mention when migrants from the general area of the Futa Djalon foothills and the SeneGambia region in West Africa arrived Gobir not long before 1800.

When falling to the Earth, a celestial body in most cases falls apart in the atmosphere into smaller debris, forming a meteor shower, without reaching the earth's surface intact. Another option assumes that the speed of the falling body upon collision with the Earth will be...
sufficient to cause an explosion, as a result of which it will explode, and an impact crater will form at the site of the fall.
But it also happens that meteorites reach the Earth in relative safety, and also do not lead to a crater.
A striking example of this is the Goba meteorite with a mass of 66 tons, which fell to Earth about 80 thousand years ago. No crater was found at the site of its fall, and it is surprising that such a massive body did not explode in the atmosphere.
