CBS has booked one of the most dishonest Republicans who pushed the Big Lie and incited the Jan. 6 insurrection, Lindsey Graham, as a guest for @FaceTheNation on Sunday

There will never be consequences for the liars who tried to overthrow democracy. They will only be rewarded
CBS News’s initial response to the Jan. 6 terrorist attack was to tell its journalists not to call it a coup attempt or even an insurrection, and to note that many of the insurrectionists were peaceful
Four days after the attack @margbrennan booked Roy Blunt, one of the Republican senators who pushed the Big Lie, and didn’t mention once that he was part of the misinformation campaign to overturn the election results
@margbrennan Republicans believe the big lie because bad-faith actors like Lindsey Graham went on TV every day for nine weeks to spread it

It’s not a mystery why people believe it. The same liars keep getting invited on TV to tell it over and over again

Tomorrow every network has invited on a GOP senator who pushed the Big Lie:

-Lindsey Graham tried to toss votes
-Bill Cassidy refused to say Biden won
-Roger Wicker alleged voter fraud
-Rand Paul STILL says the election was stolen

There are no consequences for telling ANY lie ImageImageImageImage
None of these senators will get a question about their role in deceiving millions of people to overturn the election. They will be asked “why do you think the president should not be convicted” as if they didn’t spend the last three months lying and getting away with it
Having total freedom of the press makes it so embarrassing that every one of the four major networks willingly and repeatedly extends offers to bad-faith members of a fascist party that tried to overturn the election as if the order is coming down from the ministry of information

Be Smart: most Republicans are not unhinged terrorists like this. Many like Rob Portman are sincere terrorists who voted against gun laws after Sandy Hook because they love school shootings just as much and lie about voter fraud too but do it while looking Tall and Serious
We need more pro-school shooting and pro-covid people serving us in Congress as long as they invent serious-sounding lies in their talking points so we can frame them as legitimate objectors to the “radical left” and hash it out on our reporters’ panel with governor scott walker
By the way this video was posted a couple years ago and was available on MTG’s YouTube page, Kevin McCarthy knew about it and said he welcomed her into the GOP when she won so when he says he has concerns about this you don’t have to believe his lie. He knew about it and loved it

Senators Mike Rounds and Rand Paul pushed the Big Lie about voter fraud to overturn the election

Today they were on @MeetThePress and @ThisWeekABC to lie again, calling for voter fraud (which doesn't exist) to be investigated

These shows are helping Republicans rewrite history
The message this sends clearly to all Republicans who lied about voter fraud is that they should continue to lie. There will never be consequences for them, and they will always be invited on top-rated platforms to push the lie without being truly challenged on it
From a good faith/bad faith standpoint, there is simply no reason to trust these people. They lied about the most integral topic imaginable — "the election was fake." The obvious logical conclusion is that they will lie about all topics. There is no reason to ask them anything

Every day there’s more proof that the news media will never stop booking the terrorists who incited the Capitol attack to ask them more about their interesting opinions regarding “voter fraud”
You’ve booked someone who lied about a monumental topic knowing it was a lie. He says he has no regrets and will do it again. Why on earth would a journalist continue to interview someone who has just said they are going to lie about whatever they want
There’s really only one way to do this if you’re going to do it:
- do you acknowledge there was no voter fraud?
- when you said there was, did you think there was or did you know it was a lie?
- did you lie to please trump knowing it wouldn’t work or did you want it to work?

It’s not unreasonable to assume all statements coming from congressional Republicans who attempted the coup (Hawley, Cruz, McCarthy, the other 220) are obviously more misinformation and should be covered the way you wish you’d covered the “Big Lie” instead of just reprinting them
It’s very easy to do this: “GOP Leader McCarthy tried to overturn the election by lying about voter fraud. After spreading antisemitic misinformation leading up the Jan. 6 white supremacist attack, today he made another false claim about his role in inciting the insurrection.”
They’re lying to you because they know you’ll reprint the lie as “news.” You wouldn’t cover North Korea by saying “North Korea’s leader said today that he has personally discovered the cure for covid-19” so why cover McCarthy et al. like that? Because you’re friends with them?
