I think it is significant to consider how Speaker Pelosi reacted after the 1/6 Insurrection.

We know the insurrectionists targeted her specifically. Had they found her, we know they would have assassinated her. That's not even a question.

But after the event, Speaker Pelosi didn't make a point of the the danger to herself. She repeatedly told the story of her staff, cowering in terror under a table in a conference room as the insurrectionists battered on the locked door.

Speaker Pelosi didn't make this about herself. She made it about everyone else who was threatened. She made it about the threat to America. She made it about the assault on the Capitol, the Cathedral of Democracy.

Speaker Pelosi's reactions stand in stark contrast to reactions we've heard from some other officials.

I don't want to minimize the real danger other elected officials faced, the real fears and true threats to their lives.

I'm just pointing out a difference in personality.

There's a reason Nancy Pelosi is Speaker of the House. It's never about her. It's not about self-promotion or a self-centered worldview. It's always about what she can do for America and for the people of America.

Nothing could make this truth more plain.

I'd put it the reverse of the way you did. She became Speaker precisely because this is how she has always acted.

The best indicator of how people will handle a position of authority is to look at how they act before they achieve that position.
