At @Razorpay we aim to build super-slick experiences. To build great experiences you need to build great teams. And to build great teams you need to first build a great interview experience. Here's a thread by @_kamlesh_ about how we improved our #Frontend Interview experience 🧵
Our process is divided into multiple phases
P1. Fixing the process
We asked people from our frontend team to imagine if they were interviewing for a job then what would have be an ideal interview process according to them. Here are the outcomes of that exercise
P1. Fixing the process (contd.)
✅ Make them comfortable
✅ Drive it based on their past experience
✅ Make it natural and not transactional
✅ Pair program with focus on approach
✅ Make it close to daily work
✅ Embrace diversified skillset
To accumulate above we came up with a 4 step process: 1. Discover - Know each other, discuss past project, interest areas 2. Build Stuff - Pair program like we do at work. 3. Discuss - Geek about web fundamentals. 4. Decide - Both of us decide if it's a match
P2. Fixing the Sourcing and Filtration
- A less-boring jobs page where people can apply.
- Show minimal and relevant information about the process and our work.
- Establish a personal connect with the candidates(about their work and skills) and screen all the profiles manually.
P3. Bringing out the creativity
- Make job posts exciting and fun
- Use our social media platforms to post shorter and contextual job descriptions
- Embrace minimalism and have shorter application form which people can fill directly from their mobile phones while taking a walk
