I was led to read Christ's letter to the 7 Churches in Revelations 2-3. This time my attention was drawn to these things:
1. Jesus told the Churches: I KNOW THY WORKS. Eh? Jesus is Grace. Grace knows our works? How?🤷🏽♂️

I thought they said Grace means your works don't count before God? 🤔
So why is Christ focusing on their works? I think He should be saying "I don't see your works.." or "Your works may be imperfect but I don't see them. My grace is sufficient for you"

Then to the Church in Sardis Jesus said "for I have not found your works perfect before God." Revelation 3v2
Imperfect works? I thought all that matters is grace & not works? So why is He weighing their works?
Listen, Jesus dealt with each one of them according to their "works"

Don't downplay the place of works for grace. Grace is God working in you to will & to do.

The 2nd thing Jesus told the churches was: REPENT.
Repent? From what to what again? I thought we're forgiven in Christ, & so God is not seeing our errors?
But Christ weighed their works, saw their negligence & imperfections, & told them to repent & do the first works.

Christ didn't just tell the churches to repent, He warned them of the consequences except they repent. "Repent, or else!"

Only Smyrna & Philadelphia churches were blameless. Christ weighs our works & asks us to repent where found wanting.

What's to learn here?
We must make conscious effort to examine ourselves before God. He's our sufficiency & our strength.
#RPN says, "always repent before God, always!"
Examine yourself & repent accordingly. Make necessary adjustments & lean on the Spirit to help you overcome.

Finally, the 3rd thing Christ told all the churches: HIM THAT OVERCOMES.
This time Jesus gives promises to the overcomer. "He that overcomes & KEEPS MY WORKS TO THE END.." Rev 2v26
That's what it means to endure to the end (matt 24v13). It's by keeping His works. Good works.

#RPN says, we must endeavor to live above the system of this world. Jesus has set us free from this world but the devil is still trying to draw us back.
We're to overcome the world, it's system, influence, & passions.

Grace evaluates our works,
Grace is for good works.

I'd ike to end this thread with Christ's final note in Revelation 22v12-15:
"Blessed are those who do His commandments [or wash their robes] that they may have the right to the tree of life.. "
We were saved by grace, and we're rewarded according to our works.
