Good Morning @CaroneMellissa thanks for the follow. Let me take a sip of coffee & we can get started: Since you are a new candidate, I thought I would provide you with some necessary information on how to file as a candidate and comply with Michigan Campaign Finance. ☕️🧵👇
Keeping in mind, of course, that Michigan State House District lines have not yet been drawn as the Independent Redistricting Commission will rely on US Census data, which will not be available until April 30th, at the earliest. npr.org/2021/01/27/961…
The Commission timeline indicates that the district lines are to be adopted by November 21, 2021. michigan.gov/sos/0,4670,7-1…
When the time comes and you know what House District that you wish to run for: You should file with either your County Clerk @LisaBrown39 or the @MichSoS depending on if the district crosses over county lines. michigan.gov/documents/ED10…
You must file a Statement of Organization with the Secretary of State’s Office within 10 days of becoming a candidate. midisclose.nictusa.com
Based on your press announcements, that deadline may have already passed. If that is the case, you may already owe campaign finance fines to the @MichSoS I would check, because they pile up fast. 💵deadlinedetroit.com/articles/27187…
Also, I took the liberty of looking at your website and you appear to be fundraising. Please note, you have failed to include a disclaimer, commonly known as a ‘Paid for by’ statement.
Since websites cost money to host and credit card services have fees, you are likely already in violation of several campaign finance related laws. More fines will likely be coming, unless you fix this...
Should you be elected, you probably should know that the Michigan Constitution prohibits those with felony convictions regarding deceit, dishonesty, fraud or a breach of the public trust in the course of their elected duties from running for office.
So you may want to tone down the lies about the election being rigged...
