As elite selection is more and more done on the basis of ideological conformity to an insane ideology elite competence and intelligence declines.

Thread for tracking examples of this as they come across my timeline.
First example is very straightforward:

The more ideologically filtered for conformity to the zeitgeist, the less competent at basic math

For this one, maybe idiocy, maybe intentional incompetence designed to cause a problem that would give them power and enable to scapegoat their enemy.

Why this happens in many fields and the mentality that inevitably results in hostility towards competence:

Listening live to the scanner in NY something sounds like a planned operation - they were setting fires and doing things to get more and more cops away from police HQ (if that is what they were using as a dispatch point) then the mob dispersed and a different mob descended on HQ

Background on that, btw is that they were setting fires at University and 13th Street and moved downtown; over time the cops dispatched more and more officers to... look at them I guess
