Happening now: The Department of Public Enterprises and the liquidators of SA Express are appearing before the Select Committee on Public Enterprises and Communications. #SAExpress

#SAExpress| One of the airline's appointed liquidators, Aviwe Ndyamara will give an update on the airline's status.

#SAExpress|Ndyamara acknowledges that the liquidators have asked for several extensions since the airline was placed under provisional liquidation last year. He says this is to ensure they follow all due processes.

#SAExpress|Ndyamara says the final liquidation order is still outstanding.

#SAExpress|Ndyamara says there are still outstanding employee salaries and will be payable if there is residue after liquidation.

Creditors claims are aid first.

#SAExpress|Ndyamara confirms bid received was made by Fly Sax to the tune of R50 million. A little less than 50% of this amount has already been paid.

#SAExpress|Ndyamara is quizzed by the select committee. He says a commission of inquiry has been sanctioned to look into whether there was maladministration, fraud, recklessness by directors of the airline.

Former executives will be contacted to answer some critical questions.

#SAExpress|Ndyamara: Four old air crafts have been sold, two more are yet to be sold. All 6 were not properly maintained, some without engines.

#SAExpress|Ndyamara says there is a contingency plan if Fly Sax doesn't meet its end of the deal to finalise bid. If the deal falls flat - the airline will go into final liquidation and intangible assets disposed.
