I led for @UKLabour in both Committees on Andrew Lansley’s reforms and repeatedly warned about the problems they’d create. So I’m glad @MattHancock - who voted for Lansleys legislation - now recognises the error of his ways. 1/4
But the truth is, if reorganising NHS structures improved the quality of care or patient outcomes we’d have already reached nirvana as there have been 20 reorganisations since 1999. Structural reform never delivers the outcomes people claim & are hugely costly & distracting. 2/4
Plus we wont properly integrate NHS & social care without long term funding reform for social care - an issue Ministers have repeatedly ducked. And giving Health Sec sweeping powers over @NHSEngland is not want NHS has called for or the lesson we should take from experience...3/4
