How and why did the media spend an entire month definitively affirming what appears to be a completely false story about the only person said to have been killed by the Capitol mob: Officer Brian Sicknick?
It is absolutely impossible that authorities, including those who performed the autopsy, didn’t know very early on that the story being spread over and over by the media — that Sicknick was killed with a fire extinguisher by a pro-Trump mob — was false.
Again we see: the factions that spread disinformation most aggressively, effectively and destructively are the very corporate media outlets that claim to find disinformation so harmful.
OK, sometimes “mistakes” are made. This is a huge one. Will there be any self-critique?
This big story published by the NYT about Sicknick’s death is simply false. The headline itself may be false, but the key events it purports to describe never happened. This caused virtually the media to spend a full month repeating this as fact.
Here's the Revolver article that built the case that finally forced media outlets to reckon with the fact that they have been spreading an outright falsehood about Officer Sicknick's death for a month. There's no knowledge about how (or when) he died:
Just an absolute falsehood about how Officer Brian Sicknick died, spread over and over by the people with the largest media platforms, to millions and millions of people who will probably never learn that they were deceived yet again.
Look at how viral all of these went. Has a single media outlet issued corrections to their original broadcasts and stories?
And the issue isn’t that the reporting was trivially erroneous because he was killed by the mob with some other means. We have no idea how he died - or even when! Where is the autopsy? Given how central this is to the impeachment trial & media narrative, how can this lie fester?
Lies that serve a political agenda just remain undisturbed because they’re useful and people like them.
How many still believe Omar Mateen — the monster who murdered 49 people at PULSE — set out to murder LGBTs? He didn’t. He had no idea it was a gay club. But it’s a useful lie.
To this day, people get angry when I point out Mateen didn’t seek out a gay club. He just wanted to murder. I didn’t know until I did reporting on the unjust prosecution of his wife.
But it was false. You can’t say it just because it’s politically useful. Same with Sicknick.
Here’s the Mateen reporting. I assumed he had set out to murder LGBTs before I did reporting because the media said it over and over. I assumed Sicknick was murdered with a fire extinguisher. The media spreads falsehoods *constantly* to millions
Liberals heralded this group of life-long scammers, sleaze merchants and con artists as noble men of conscience, enabling them to fleece and deceive the public.
It is difficult to imagine a scenario under which @ProjectLincoln and those who participated in this breach did not violate federal law, which is presumably why Conway, a careful and accomplished litigator, barely caveated his accusation against this notoriously litigious group:
CNN put Andrew Cuomo on their airwaves repeatedly with his brother so that the Governor could be heralded -- by his own brother, a CNN host -- as the Brave, Honest Leader that the country needed. Meanwhile:
While Gov. Cuomo was concealing COVID data and causing massive deaths in nursing homes, this is what Democratic Party journalists were saying on TV in praising and heralding Cuomo. Just watch and decide for yourself if they deserve your trust (video compiled by @DailyCaller):
Everything scummy, dirty, unethical, dishonest and scamming about @ProjectLincoln was completely known and obvious over the last 18 months.
Journalists and others in liberal politics are willing to admit it now only because, with Trump vanquished, there is no more use for them.
But the damage is done. They scammed enormous numbers of liberals out of their major money in the middle of a pandemic -- because NBC, CNN, and others (60 Minutes) promoted them as a group of noble, honest people of conscience when it was clear they were grifters and liars.
I'll have a full report up on everything in just a bit. Since they like to publish questions posed to them by journalists who are reporting on them as a form of petty intimidation, I'll be happy to do it for them:
If you don't see what these media outlets have become & how toxic and repressive they are, then it's very difficult to understand anything about the political climate.
These corrupted institutions affect everything because they're the primary conduits of information for millions
I would never suggest anyone quit their job in protest in the middle of a pandemic or at any other point -- that's too personal a decision -- but if you are blocked by censorious editors from weighing in on critical matters, it's very hard to work with integrity as a journalist.
Incredible how little attention some journalist unions pay to standard union demands -- better pay, benefits, job protection -- and how devoted instead they are to increasing the power of management to control & punish journalists. This is what The Intercept's union demanded:
Even better are the journalists in reply to Andrea Mitchell acting like Every Smart Person knows this is Faulkner and only an utter cretin like Ted Cruz would attribute this iconic Macbeth quote to William Shakespeare:
