There's tragedy in this world, real tragedy. But there's also beauty and happiness and love and kindness. If you immerse yourself too much in the former, which is extremely easy, and forget the latter, you'll only turn yourself into a force multiplier for the former.

There are many people with very good reason to turn to the dark side. It is incumbent upon the rest of us to help them overcome the monsters within. But in our efforts to empathise with them, we should be careful not to glorify anti-social behaviour itself.

The problem with democratic societies is that they have justified anti-social behaviour as a legitimate manner of voicing grievances. To further complicate matters, such decisions were motivated by political calculations. These violent delights do have violent ends.

Anyway, the point is, if you focus constantly with what is wrong with the world, it is inevitable that you will end up acting out in a manner you should not. The line is eventually crossed, slowly at first, but then all at once.

Only the minutest of the minutest of the minutest minority of individuals change the world at a young age and those people are extremely gifted with unreal levels of talent. In 2021, we have hordes of youth who believe they will change the world by shitposting. That is insanity.

When such youth eventually realize their shitposting is having little to no impact on how the world is run, they inevitably lash out. Eventually, it hampers their mental health. The greatest danger of social media is it gives people an exaggerated sense of their own influence.

The real BlackPill is that you will see tragedy unfold all around yourself and you will be utterly helpless to stop it. There's nothing you can to do to alter those circumstances. But the brighter side is that there is sufficient areas of the world that are within your control.

As long as you take care of those around you, help them fulfill their potential and lead a meaningful life, you have done your bit in making the world a better place to live in. That is what most of us will ever be capable of. And believe me, that's more than enough.
