UPDATE: @Walmart and @SamsungUS have finally terminated their relationship with @mschlapp's lobbying firm.

Schlapp, who also chairs @CPAC, has relentlessly attacked the BLM movement & pushed the lie that the election was stolen from Trump through fraud

popular.info/p/update-comca…
@Walmart @SamsungUS @mschlapp @CPAC .@mschlapp's firm was being paid $50K/quarter by Walmart and $20K/quarter by Samsung.

The blow was cushioned by a $750K Q4 payment by Pete Petit

Petit, who was convicted of securities fraud in November, hired Schalpp to help him secure a pardon from Trump

Petit did not get one

I'd love to know what Schlapp actually DID for his 750K.

Make one phone call? Two?

And what did Schlapp SAY he could do for 750K?

It does explain why Schlapp was so willing to push completely baseless claims of election fraud.

Stay in Trump's good graces. Cash in.

1. As the Senate debates Trump's responsibility for the events of Jan 6, a relatively new group is organizing the next insurrection

And this one could be more sophisticated, efficient & violent

At the center of the scheme is a familiar name: Ammon Bundy

popular.info/p/the-next-ins…
2. Bundy, who occupied a federal wildlife refuge by force in 2016, has created a new org called People's Rights

People's Rights wants to enable people to "call a militia like they’d call an Uber and stage a protest within minutes."

popular.info/p/the-next-ins…
3. The rapidly growing group, which Bundy says now has 50K members, aims to be able to "dispatch 10 protesters to a scene in 10 minutes, 100 in 100 minutes and 1,000 in 1,000 minutes."

1. Of all the things Republicans Senators are saying about the impeachment trial, "I blame the rioters, not Trump," is the dumbest
2. TRUMP:

* Invented the lie that the election was stolen

* Told his supporters to come to DC on Jan 6 and get "wild"

* Held a rally where he spoke to the mob for an hour and told them to "fight like hell"

* Instructed the mob to march to the Capitol
3. AFTER THE RIOT THAT LEFT SEVERAL PEOPLE DEAD, TRUMP:

* Described it as "things and events that happen" when an election is stolen

* Said everyone should look back on the riot fondly: "Remember this day forever!"

1. Today, Trump's second impeachment trial starts.

Trump's lawyers and Republican Senators will focus on the argument that the proceeding is unconstitutional because Trump is no longer president.

This short thread will explain why that is B.S.

Follow along if interested.
2. The question of whether Trump could be impeached after he left office is irrelevant

Trump was impeached before he left office

The question is whether the Senate still have the authority to try the impeachment after Trump leave office

The Constitution answers this question
3. Article I, Section 3, Clause 6: "The Senate shall have the sole Power to try all Impeachments."

ALL IMPEACHMENTS.

ALL.

IMPEACHMENTS.

1. The assault on democracy that everyone saw at the Capitol on Jan 6 quietly continues in statehouses around the country.

State officials that embraced Trump's lies are introducing a flood of legislation to make it more difficult for people to vote

2. In PA, HB25 would repeal no-excuse absentee voting, which was passed w/bipartisan support in 2019

One of the bill's sponsors, Rep Jim Gregory, signed a letter to PA's Congressional delegation, urging them object to the state's Electoral College vote

3. An AZ bill, would make it a felony to send an absentee ballot to anyone who didn't request it. The bill sponsor is Rep. Jake Hoffman, who also signed the letter urging members of Congress to recognize an alternative slate of electors pledged to Trump

1. The MyPillow guy made a two-hour movie of lies about the 2020 presidential election.

@Verizon and @ATT beamed it into millions of homes.

popular.info/p/the-mypillow…
@Verizon @ATT 2. @OANN aired Mike Lindell's fever dream of a documentary, which was 120 minutes of disinformation about the presidential election, THIRTEEN TIMES from Feb 5 to Feb 8.

@verizonfios and @Directv (AT&T) include OANN as part of their basic TV package

popular.info/p/the-mypillow…
3, That means if you get your TV through @verizonfios or @Directv, you paying every month to make OANN possible.

I estimate that @ATT customers pay at least $3 million a year to OANN, which called QAnon "the new mainstream."

UPDATE: @Microsoft announces that it "will suspend contributions for the duration of the 2022 election cycle to all members of Congress who voted to object to the certification of electors."

@Microsoft 2. This next part is important. @Microsoft will also "suspend contributions for the same period for state officials and organizations who supported such objections or suggested the election should be overturned."

popular.info/p/three-major-…
@Microsoft 3. Previously, @Microsoft had indefinitely suspended all contributions. But this was viewed by many employees as insufficient.
