0 new cases of COVID-19 announced in Nova Scotia today (Friday, Feb. 12) 1/
There are now 9 known active cases in the province. 1 person remains in hospital with the disease, in ICU. 2/
Nova Scotia Health labs conducted 1,999 tests yesterday (a big increase from recent days) 3/
So far, 22,343 doses of vaccine have been administered; of those, 7,498 have been second doses 4/
I have a noon appointment to travel to. There is a COVID briefing scheduled for 1pm, and I'll live blog that whenever it actually starts, and will add graphs later. 5/
Here's the graph of daily new cases and the 7-day rolling average (today at 0.9):
Strang: "Everybody's hard work continues to pay off... but now is not the time to become complacent." Look at Newfoundland. They're attributing that to social events and sports.
Strang: we reported 2 variant cases earlier in the week. We're still investigating, but so far, we have not seen any community spread from those 2 cases.
Strang: the federal government is reallocating some of the Moderna supply to the northern territories, so next week's delivery to Nova Scotia will be reduced from 5,900 to 3,000. Moderna is what we're delivering to nursing homes.
Strang: we're still making progress, and we expect fluctuations in delivery.
Strang: the first community clinic for 80+s starts Feb. 22. We've mailed out notifications to those randomly selected, and some people have already signed up.
Strang: asymptomatic testing is helping to keep the virus at bay.
Strang: if you've got a long weekend, consider getting tested.
Strang: The increased gathering limits for sports apply only while playing. So, you might be able to play hockey with a bunch of players, but you can't then all go to the bar together and sit at the same table; you have to be in groups of 10 or fewer.
Strang: watching what's happening in Newfoundland tells me we're doing the right thing with somewhat tighter restrictions.

BREAKING: New details emerge about the night of April 18 in Portapique /thread
Lisa Banfield told police that that evening was her and GW's 19th anniversary. They had drinks and FaceTimed friends in Houlton, Maine, a couple.
Lisa and GW told the couple in Maine that for their 20th anniversary, they were going to have a "commitment ceremony." The woman in Maine said "don't do it." That upset Lisa, and she said "I'm leaving." That in turn upset GW.
McNeil is still premier, so he's on the briefing today. I think Strang ought to do it solo except when there is some policy change announcement, but no one listens to me.
While I have your attention, I think new Premier Iain Rankin could do a few easy things to get public trust: fix the lobbyist registry system, increase transparency in various places, and start the damn briefings on time.
