Wikipedia edit history shows how malicious a lot of the #MeghanMarkle hate is, and how much of it is about trying to shape the narrative about her via trolling and misinformation. A thread:
Evidence of disruptive editing and vandalism which began in earnest when #harryandmeghan 's relationship was announced. Archie's page gets it too after he's born
A LOT of back & forth over how to talk about Meghan's race. Didn't include all those b/c the majority didn't seem overtly malicious & the careless ones got smacked down quick by editors. These however, are clearly malicious, note the "I speak truth" in the first pic about Archie
Here we have #misogynoir, where racism and sexism meet in specifically the hypersexualisation of black women, Meghan's career as an actress and baseless assertions about her intentions. There are MANY. part one:
Misogynoir part 2: (also despite the claims of some that this only occurred on social media, and not in the press... that is not true. Might do a thread of that another day)
Misogynoir towards #MeghanMarkle part 3: In one of these, an anonymous user changes her occupation to "stripper".
Then we have the conspiracy theories. Imo there's barely any difference between Q*non ppl and M*gxit. They will believe whatever to justify hatred. All the usual suspects are here: surrogacy, age. One troll even wrote a dumb little story
This took forever so I haven't looked through #PrinceHarry's page yet. I will though. But this determination to make people accept things that obviously aren't true, and even things that are bigoted, by trying to push them through sources with some kind of authority is just sick

The Wikipedia edit history for #princeharry since dating Meghan. Paternity trolling, homophobia, personal attacks & of course, anti-Meghan trolling. Disclaimer: It took so long just to get back to 2016 so I wasn't able to see what the edits look like too far pre-Meghan. 1/
Re: Paternity. of course, for years there have been "rumours" about James Hewitt being Harry's father. He isn't. The math don't math. It's so disturbing also to see people who claim to love him pre-Meghan, in a blink of an eye troll him about his paternity 2/
Then we have the trolling of Harry via #meghanmarkle: racism, misogynoir, obsessive m*gxit-like behaviour appear. Once again, there are MANY. so this bit is split into parts. Part 1 (3/)
Thread on the racist trolling on royal twitter: On and off social media, racists, bigots & trolls don't need applause to keep doing what they do, silence is enough. 1/4 #Royals#royalfamily#harryandmeghan
It's why you hear the tremble in their voices despite their volume when they're screaming abuse at someone on public transport but somebody courageous decides in that moment they won't cringe in silence and let it go on. 2/4
This is why I get so frustrated when journalists especially say "I don't respond so I don't give it oxygen.". By not responding, you give them something worse than oxygen: legitimacy. They can act like what they do isn't egregious. They only need silence to carry on. 3/4
